You will most likely need to change what ever toner cartridge that is the same color as the dots. So if the dots are pink change the magenta. If they are blue change the cyan. Most of the time these dots are a result of the toner cartridges drum having a pit or similar defect in it. Changing the toner cartridge will take care of this.

Make sure that Ready or Sleep is displayed in the LCD panel. Select Change Toner X (The letters C, M, Y, or K appear in place of X, indicating the colors Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black.) in the Reset Menu on the control panel.While the cartridge X you selected above moves to the cartridge replacement position, Please Wait appears on the LCD panel.Replace Toner X appears in the LCD panel when the cartridge to be replaced reaches the cartridge replacement position.Then Open Cover A.Push up the right lever to unlock the toner cartridge. Then remove the toner cartridge from the printer.
Remove all of your toners and clean them off. Replace each one and make sure they are well setted in the unit before going to the next one. Make sure the carosel turns smoothly and nothing is hanging up on the sides. Reboot the whole printer and let it settle for 5 mins before printing. toners come lose sometimes when you turn carosel around. Hope this helps you these printers are a ***** to deal with ,but when they are right there great.
On the LCD display choose the 'Reset Menu' Then within that menu keep going through the options till you get to 'Change Toner M' (if it is Magenta). Once you select the appropriate Toner it will rotate to offer the correct toner. Open up the front cover, reach inside and change the position of the coloured part of the cartridge on the right to the Unlock symbol and then ease the cartridge out. It comes out at a slight angle as the part you move to unlock it comes out first. Put the new toner in and turn the coloured part to the locked symbol.

EAch cartridge has a small ( about 1/4 inch square) stainless steel color metal tab at the end of the cartridge opposite the refill cap end. The surface of this little tab is visible when the cartridge is "low" on toner and this causes the machine to give the message to change the cartridge. As the cartridge gets older I've noticed that this tab moves to the exposed position more readily, which causes the message to appear. If you google how to reset the position of this tab, then the message will not appear. EVerytime I refill the toner of a cartridge I check to make sure to reset the position of this little metal tab.
It is difficult to describe how to reset the position of the tab. You have to stick a small regular screw driver into the slot below where the metal tab appears and find the lever which can be pushed to reset the position of the tab. You can likely find photos of this procedure on google.
If you wait until the colour has completely run out, you will see a message to that effect, and the correct cartride will be presented. If you wish to change before this:
1. On the
printers' control panel, press the "right" button (labeled no. 3) once and then
the "down" button (labeled no. 4) until you see the RESET MENU.
2. Press the
"right" button (labeled no. 3) once.
3. Press the
"down" button (labeled no. 4) until you see "CHANGE TONER X" appear on the
screen (where X is either C, M, Y or K, Cyan. Magenta, Yellow or Black).
4. Press the
"right" button (labeled no. 3) once. The printer will rotate the toner carousel
to the correct position for you to change.
5. Open the
printer door and change the toner as normal.
I had the same problem and found that one of the toner cartridges must have not been seated properly. I removed the black toner cartridge and re-fitted it. The printer now works fine again with no errors. 17H is a code relating to a fault in the rotation ......... possibly one or more toner cartridges need checking. Use the menu on the printer to turn it to the appropriate position (i.e. engine menu then select replacement of whichever toner you are checking).
