SOURCE: I have a craftsman weedwacker model 257 799750 and

Spring, spool then cap....if that way doesn't let the line out correctly, then it is possible you have wound the line on the spool in the wrong direction. Try taking the line off and winding it on the other way.

SOURCE: Featherlite/Mightylite 26ss pull cord will not

They don't spin with the engine, however pinning them together isn't your fix. The spring has to be fixed at both ends, sounds like one end or the other is comming out of its keeper. Check if the ends are broken

Pull start has spring has slipped now cant figure out hw to reasemble the unit help plz

Normally most pull starts have a pre-wound spring (in this case a long piece of flat metal) that is housed in a round spool that has "fingers" that prevent the spool from spinning backwards. These "fingers" also catch the outside cylinder and deliver your pulling energy to the device. Your question appears under "washing machines." I'm guessing you do not have a pull start on a washing machine. Please list the type of device you are sealing help with.

The spinning device (the filament cassette I think) through which the cutting strings are attached has detached from the trimmer's stick. How can it be put back again or reattached?

There should be a knob that goes on AFTER the string spool that holds it on. IF the issue is it keeps turning when you try to put it back on, then on a machine with no clutch, the engine will need to be locked up. To do this, remove the spark plug and wire, pull on the start cord until you see (with a light) the piston go DOWN in the cylinder...then insert a length of soft, clean rope into the cylinder and this will lock it up when it tries to turn again.Parts on end of the machine are:

1. Bump Knob 2. String Spool 3. Spool Spring and finally 4. String Head Housing

How to reload pull cord spring assembly?

I removed the screws from the bottom of the unit to separate mechanism that held the blades from the engine. This revealed a clutch on the end of the drive shaft. I removed the springs so I could remove the two halves of the centrifical clutch. I did this so I could then remove the mount these two halves were around. This mount had an arrow and the word 'off' on it. I placed a block of wood against this mount and hit the wood (protecting the mount) as to spin off the mount in the direction of the arrow. A few sharp licks with the hammer and the mount started to come off. I removed it by hand then. Next I removed screws and spark plug so I could get the green housing off where the cord was mounted. Inside this housing is a white spool the cord was on. Becareful with the next step. To replace the cord I removed the spool the cord is wound on but be careful, under the spool is a metal housing under which is the spring that rewinds the cord when you pull start the unit. The end of the white spool that is out of your sight meshes with the end rewind spring. If you pull too far up on the spring or the metal housing that keeps the spring in place you will have spring everywhere and possibly toward your face becareful. So Loosen the two screws and turn the tabs out of the way that hold down the white cord spool. Slowly work the white cord spool off. Replace the cord on the spool making sure you wind it in the proper direction. Then replace the spool and mesh it with the spring. Turn the spool to wind the spring and retention the pull cord rewinding spring. re assemble unit. Good luck! This is not a step by step but I believe it will get you what you need.

Engine runs, but spool with trimmer line doesn't spin. Is it repairable?

If the spool doesnt spin check the driveline for damage.

If you just have a broken drive cable you can replace or repair it.

If the drive cable is spinning but the connection to the spool is bad then you might look for a replacement spool.

The problem is that the cost of buying these parts is on par with about 40-50% of the cost of replacing the whole unit.

Good luck and be careful!

I have pulled the cord out of my gas powered trimmer. What is the easiest way to fix this

Remove the pull start mechanism, remove the old rope from the inside plastic, thread a new rope through the hole in the outside and through the hole in the plastic center where you removed the old rope, Now reach between the spool and the edge of the casing and pull some slack in the rope, there will be a notch in the spool, set the rope into the notch and begin spinning the spool to make tension in the spring ( correct direction is the same way the rope is spooled in. go until you have good tension on spring, grab rope left outside casing and pull through, then let rope get pulled into the spool with the spring tension you have created. Now just reattach the handle.

You have to take the machine apart. The first thing is to separate the shaft from the engine. Then take off the shaft driver. There is a screw in the end. It takes a #15 TORX screwdriver. Once that is off, you have to spin off the clutch. To do that, hold the engine somehow and remove the clutch counter-clockwise. With that off, you can then remove the engine from the molding at the other end. The spool will be sitting on the rewind spring so BE CAREFUL. If the spring comes out it will be a big pain! Just lift the spool off, replace the rope and attach as the old one was. Now, you have the rope connected. Place the spool on the spring. Place the rope in the notch at the edge of the spool and slowly wind the spool on the spring. When you have it wound as far as you want, take the rope from the notch and into the spool. Allow the rope to rewind onto the spool. Put everything back as it was before you started and you have finished...Good luck...Lee
