Had been working fine. Do not know how error has occurred. Have tried all suggested steps disengaging USB, power cord, re inserting cartridges, etc. and still not able to print, still reads cartridge error 50C consult User Guide. Now noted it is blinking when you press power off button, and delays several seconds before powering off, where as light used to turn off immediately after pressing button.

Same here with the Dell A940, error message: Cartridge Error error: 50C. Tried all disconnects to power, USB, looking inside for anything blocking cartridge return, removing cartridges and reinserting as prompt requested. Also tried copying to see if it was a communication error from computer...no luck. Can't find any reference on Dell website. Can you help? Thank you. Toni

I get the same print error as all others (50c). I have reinstalled cartridges as recommended and continue to get the message same message. My cartridges are Dell factory catridges -- they may have purchased a bad batch and we have bad cartridges that need to be replaced by a "fresher" cartridge. Don't know if it matters that II obtained my cartridges around late Dec. (2007) - early Jan. (2008) and they are Dell factory purchased cartridges. Thanks to anyone who can pass on any additional and good information.

  • grandmawM May 09, 2008

I have had my Dell All-In-One Printer since Oct'03 and until recently, it worked fine. Now, I am getting the Cartridge error 50C. I have tried everything suggested, except uninstalling/re-installing printer on the computer. Many others have done this without any solution to the problem. I have contacted DELL by phone and e-mail, but since this is not a warranty item, they have not been much help, if any. I requested new ink cartidges from them to try--free of charge, but would pay if that corrected the problem or return if it did not. I have been a loyal Dell customer for years and ordered $$$$$$$ worth of ink cartridges. So much for rewarding loyalty, huh?

  • blackknight4 May 16, 2008

This is bull I am as loyal as the next. This printer has the best scanner and I really don' won't to this but OFF THE BALCONY IT WILL GO!!!!

Dell can do better with there support.

Lexmark 6100 cartridge error 50c

Are you using a factory "New" Lexmark cartridge?

Lexmark does not support the use of refilled cartridges or third party cartridges in their products.

Lexmark considers this to be Product Tampering and will void the printer' warranty.

Error 50c

One of the cartridges is shorting. I removed the colour cartridge and no error came on. I overrode the cartridge missing and the printer works well. All I have to do is replace the colour cartridge or override everytime it is switched on. So simple, so why not in the user guide?

Cartridge Error, Error 50C

Hi there Error 50c

Dell gets this lots so have a try.

Regarding the Dell A940 "Error 50c"....the user guide doesn't seem to mention "Error 50c". They do, however, mention a "Cartridge Error" on page 52 of the manual. They claim this means that the printer has detected a short circuit (fuse/resister) in the cartridge. As you may or may not have noticed in the manual, this is what they recommend doing about it:

1) Press Power to turn the printer off.

2) Lift the printer cover/lid (scanner unit) until the scanner support holds it open.

3) Turn the printer on.
The ink cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position unless the printer is busy.

4) Remove the color ink cartridge.

5) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.
If the error message displays again, replace the black cartridge with a new black cartridge.

If the error message does not display, repeat steps 1–3 and then go to step 6.

6) Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black ink cartridge.

7) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.

If the error message displays again, replace the color cartridge with a new
color cartridge.
If there is no error message (indicated by flashing lights), repeat steps 1–3 and then reinstall both ink cartridges.
8) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.

If you get the error message again, while both cartridges are installed, replace both of the cartridges.

Basically, what they want you to determine is,....if the short circuit is with the "black ink" cartridge or the "color ink" cartridge and then replace the cartridge that has the problem.

You may have to buy a new cartrige.
Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.
