I need to replace the needle

There is a thumb screw by the needle. Just unscrew it enough to be able to remove the needle by pulling straight down. You may need a small screw driver. HOWEVER, when you take the needle out, by pulling it down, notice where the FLAT SIDE IS It may face backwards or forwards, but it is important that the new needle is inserted this same way. Push the new needle up into the opening where the old needle came out, making sure it is pushed all the way up. You may need to unscrew the thumb screw a bit more to facilitate insertion. Jiggle the needle while pushing it up into the opening to be quite sure it is seated properly. Then, hold the needle with one hand and tighten the thumb screw with the other. Using a small screw driver, (one should have come with the machine), tighten the thumb screw all the way down. No need to over tighten, just make sure it is really snug. Piece of cake:) Good luck. She may have broken it, but he needs to read the manual:)

My decolav pop up drain will not open. I have to screw it on and off to use the drain.

If you can remove the pop-up part you probably will find it is clogged with soap residue and goodness knows what else. You will have to disassemble it, making note of the parts order and scrub all parts clean using an old toothbrush. Reassemble the pop-up in the proper order and you should be back in business

I will do my best to explain this ---- the little button on top of the drain cap unscrews counter-clockwise,, I have found it best to push down the drain cap with one one hand ( very hard down )and with your other hand turn the button counter-clockwise. if it still will not budge then you might need to get a pair of channel locks and a pair of pliers and get it that way. now as soon as you get the button off -- the center spindle unscrews using a large flatblade screwdriver,, unscrew it and it will all come off. if you have anymore troubles - please feel free to write back and I will do my best to walk you through any steps.

I stopper on a garden tub with a delta faucet. The stopper pushes down and locks to stop water. It takes a few tries pushing it down to get it to stop and hold water. What is the best way to fix it or...

In my part of the country, the type of drain you refer to is commonly called a tip-toe drain because you can use your toes to open and close the drain. Their locking ability diminishes over time and use, and eventually won't lock at all. They cannot be repaired, and must be replaced. You must remove the one you have to get the correct replacement because there are variations in the thread diameter at the bottom of the stopper.
You will need to use pliers large enough to grab around the white plastic underneath the top of the stopper that appears to disappear into the drain. Once you have the white plastic shaft secured with pliers, grab the very top (the chrome part) and twist it counterclockwise to remove it. Once that is off you will see a round piece of brass that looks like the top of a very large screw. IT IS! Using a stantard screw driver, again turn counterclockwise to finish removing the rest of the stopper.
A good hardware store should have a replacement for you. Be sure to match up the thread diameter at the bottom of the stopper.
To reinstall, you can reverse the steps or simply thread the complete assembly into place.

Hi now to see if the lid is closing open the drawer and on the left and right sides of the drawer you will see a round plastic locking tab.In the middle of the tab you will see a molded center that you can grab with long nose pliers. Grab hold of the center and pull them out away from the drawer. now once you do this pull the front cover down gently and remove the earth wire attached. Now close the drawer and select a cycle and push start. When you push start look to the bottom left and bottom right and you will see the lid actuators. are they the screw type or the solonoid type?now if they are the screw type then you will see a threaded rod screwing down as the lid closes..The side that could be faulty, or not closing properly, is the threaded rod that doesnt come down as far as the other one.On your other question there is a micro-switch at the end of the sliding rail that activates when the drawer is closed.see how you go and if you need further help please reply.please turn off power before you remove the front cover.

I have a Delta push down bathtub drain stop, but it is worn and does not stop the water. It does not unscrew as far as I can see how do I get it apart without removing the tube which I can not do?

There are two types of tub drain stoppers for the delta brand - lift & turn and toe tap.

Lift and Turn:
The lift & turn stopper for the bathtub unscrews counterclockwise while in the full up position.

Toe Tap:
The toe tap stopper does also but if the cap may unscrew from it before the entire stopper comes out. In that case, there is a nut that is now exposed and can be accessed to unscrew the assembly.

If either of these is "spinning" without unscrewing, the threads are stripped and you would need to exert upward pressure while unscrewing in hopes of uncoupling this from the bath waste. If that doesn't work you would have to unscrew the bath waste flange from the drain pipe.
This will require access under the tub. I hope this answer the question for you. Thank you for using FIXYA. Jeff

Singer touch and sew 648

Thread the machine as if you were going to sew. When you thread the needle, pull the thread off to the left and wrap it around the thumb screw on the left and just above the needle. Wrap it only 2 or 3 times and hold the end of the thread. With bobbin in place and the face plate slid open, push the thumb lever on the left under the face plate to the left. Begin to 'sew'. As you do, the bobbin will wind and the thread you are holding will detach. Once the bobbin is full to the outside line, slide the face plate the closed position. As it closes, it will release the thumb lever. Put the needle in the slightly lowered position and slide something blunt under the pressure foot pulling thread from both the bobbin and the needle; cut the thread when you've pulled it out sufficiently.
