Where are the pins on intel 5300

On the bottom of the CPU? Also, look at the corners to determine how to rotate the chip to fit in the socket. AMD uses triangles to mark the matching corner. Intel chips are too slow for me. An Xeon CPU is junk compared to a Phenom II.

What is the work of northbridge

The northbridge is part of a family of Intel microchips, used to manage data communications between a CPU and a motherboard within Intel chipsets based on Intel's Hub Architecture. It is designed to be paired with a second support chip known as a southbridge.
The northbridge has historically been one of the two chips in the core logic chipset on a PC motherboard, the other being the southbridge. Increasingly these functions have migrated to the CPU chip itself, beginning with memory and graphics controllers. For Intel Sandy Bridge and AMD Accelerated Processing Unit processors introduced in 2011, all of the functions of the northbridge reside on the CPU.[1] When a separate northbridge is employed in older Intel systems, it is named memory controller hub (MCH) or integrated memory controller hub (IMCH) if equipped with an integrated VGA.
God bless you

There is your motherboard manual in PDF file form.

Motherboard Layout is on Page 1-6
Internal Connectors on Page 1-24
Specs on Page 1-13 for Ram Memory, and Page 1-1 for the motherboard.

A) CPU:
Supports Intel;
Core2 Duo, Core2 Quad, and Core2 Extreme processors;
with,
either an 800MegaHertz Front Side Bus, 1066MHz FSB, or 1333MHz FSB.

ALL use the Socket T processor socket. (LGA 775 = Same/same)
ALL based on -> Up To the 45nm architecture.
(Means will support Intel Core2 processors that are based on the 65nm architecture, OR 45nm architecture)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_intel_core_2_microprocessors

The motherboard chipset is an Intel G43 -> Northbridge chip; and an Intel ICH7 -> Southbridge chip.
(Part number on Southbridge chip is Intel 82801GB)

THIS, is according to the following website,

http://www.meetgadget.com/gadget/2815/ASUS+Essentio+CG5270

I don't think so.

The Intel G43 - Northbridge chip, is usually matched up with the Intel ICH10, or ICH10R - Southbridge chip,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_intel_chipsets#Core_2_chipsets

Scroll down to G43 in the left column.
(Past G35 and P45)

[Part number of ICH10 and ICH10R, is Intel 82801JB, and Intel 82801JR; respectively,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_intel_chipsets#Southbridge_9xx_and_3.2F4_Series_chipsets ]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Motherboard_diagram.svg

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northbridge_%28computing%29

However, suggest you use the free tiny program CPU-Z, from CPUID.com, and find out what motherboard chipset is used,

http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

[ When CPU-Z is opened it automatically opens to the CPU tab.
(Processor)
Clicking on the Mainboard tab gives you information on the Motherboard.
If you need help in downloading, installing, or using CPU-Z, post back in a Comment ]

B) Ram Memory:
DDR2 Sdram.
240 gold plated contact pins. 120 on each side.
One Locating Notch.

Reputed to use 800MegaHertz up to 1333MHz.
(800MHz, 1066Mhz, and 1333Mhz)

However it MATTERS on what Processor you are using.
Ram Memory typically operates at half of the Frequency Rate ('Speed'), of the Processor's Front Side Bus. (FSB)

Since the Intel G43 came out in 2008, it stands to reason that the PCI Express technology is PCI Express 2.0

Specs on this cpu process

MicroStar International (Inc) Support > 865PE Neo2-P Platinum Edition (MSI MS-6728) Main Support page,

http://www.msi.com/product/mb/865PE-Neo2-P-Platinum-Edition.html

Click on Specification
(Overview / Specification / Download / Support / etc)

CPU (Processor) Support;

1) Intel Pentium 4 processors that have;

A) Use a Socket 478 processor socket,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_478

B) Northwood Core, or Prescott Core

C) Front Side Bus (FSB) of 400MegaHertz (400MHz) for Intel Pentium 4 processors that are based on the Northwood Core.

D) FSB support of either 533MHz, or 800MHz, for Intel Pentium 4 processors based on the Prescott Core.

Processors that have an 800MHz FSB can be used, that have UP TO a 3.6GHz frequency rate. ('Speed')
Indication that higher 'speeds' can be supported. (Overclocking?)

Now let's look at Intel Pentium 4 processors, that are based on the Northwood Core, and fit a Socket 478 processor socket,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Pentium_4_microprocessors#Northwood_.28130.C2.A0nm.29

(Front Side Bus = FSB
The M/Ts listing means MegaTransfers per Second.
Believed to be a more accurate method of stating the FSB, than MHz.

MegaHertz
Mega = 1 Million
Hertz stands for Cycles per Second. Was named after a man with the last name Hertz.
Example; 400MHz = 400 Million Cycles per Second )

Intel Pentium 4 processors based on the Prescott Core, and utilizing the Socket 478 processor socket,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Pentium_4_microprocessors#Prescott_.2890.C2.A0nm.29_2

sSpec Number will be on the processor, as well as the Part Number.

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Pentium_4/index.html

Scroll down for photos.

CPU support can be attested to looking at the specs for the motherboard chipset, on your motherboard.

The motherboard chipset is an Intel 865PE chipset.
Intel 82865PE northbridge chip, and an Intel ICH5 southbridge chip.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets#Pentium_4_chipsets

Scroll down to 865PE in the left column.

The part number on the Intel ICH5 southbridge chip, is Intel 82801EB,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets#Southbridge_8xx_chipsets

The Northbridge chip of the motherboard chipset, handles the Faster capabilities of a computer.
Processor (CPU), Ram Memory, and HIGH-speed graphics.

HIGH-speed graphics is the AGP technology, or PCI Express technology.

Using a graphics card in a PCI slot, or using Integrated Graphics; is NOT high-speed graphics,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Motherboard_diagram.svg

The Slower capabilities of a computer are handled by the Southbridge chip.

If this is a question of what CPU is on your motherboard at present, and the motherboard is in a working computer, suggest use the free tiny program CPU-Z from CPUID.com,

http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Need to know how to download, install, and use CPU-Z, post back in a Comment.

Installing new cpu on a emachine

According to the specs I have Serena, the eMachines eTower 633i Desktop PC, uses a TriGem Cognac motherboard.

[TriGem is the manufacturer, Cognac is the model.
Note it is Not the TriGem Cognac+ ]

http://www.motherboards.org/mobot/motherboards_d/Trigem/Cognac/

Specifications. (You can click on the photo to enlarge)

PDF motherboard manual,

http://www.elhvb.com/mboards/TriGem/manuals/index.html

Click on - Cognac - in the left side of the list.

Going back to the Motherboards.org page;
(Nothing like upside down photo information, and the motherboard is turned 90 degrees to the Right, to how it actually sits in your computer case )

The processor socket is a Socket 370,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_370

Used for Intel Pentium III processors, and intel 'Celey' processors.

(Excuse me......Celeron.
An Intel Pentium III processor has TWICE the L2 cache, that a comparable Intel Celeron has.
The cache for a Processor is a small memory area for the Processor.

It is the First memory the Processor accesses.
The Ram Memory is second, and the Harddrive is third.
More cache for a Processor makes it more faster )

The motherboard chipset is an Intel 810.

The Northbridge chip of the motherboard chipset, is an Intel 82810.
The Southbridge chip is an Intel 82801AA, or an Intel 82801AB.
(Intel ICH, or Intel ICH0 )

Looking at the chart, and reading across, you can see what the Intel 810 motherboard chipset supports;

1) Processors: Intel Celeron, or Intel Pentium II, or Intel Pentium III.

2) Processor Front Side Bus: (FSB) 66MegaHertz, or 100MHz.

3) SDR Sdram ram memory at 100Megahertz.

[Single Data Rate Sdram is often just referred to as Sdram.

Erroneous.
Double Data Rate Sdram is also Sdram (DDR Sdram)
Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory
So is DDR2 Sdram, and DDR3 Sdram ]

Also referred to as PC100.

So when looking for a CPU you look for;

1) Fits in a Socket 370 processor socket.
Yep. The best is going to be an Intel Pentium III.

2) Has a FSB of 100MHz.

Hmmm,............

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Pentium_III_microprocessors#.22Coppermine.22_.28180_nm.29

Scroll down.

Pentium III 1100.

Maximum frequency rate ('Speed') is 1.1GHz (1100MHz)
Front Side Bus = 100MHz
Uses a Socket 370 processor socket.
Part Number = RB80526PY005256
sSpec Number = SL5QW

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Pentium-III/TYPE-Pentium%20III%20%28Coppermine%29.html

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Pentium-III/Intel-Pentium%20III%201100%20-%20RB80526PY005256%20%28BX80526F1100256%29.html

In the top header -
Specifications / Pictures (1) / CPU ID (1) / Comments (1),
click on Pictures (1)

You can click on the photo to enlarge.
256MegaByte of L2 cache. (256MB)

A comparable Celeron would have 128MB of L2 cache.

http://www.recycledgoods.com/products/Intel-SL5QW-PIII-Processor-1100-256-100-1.75V.html

http://www.impactcomputers.com/sl5qw.html

[ Don't forget to follow Anti-Static Precautions.
Clean the bottom of the Heatsink THOROUGHLY, and the top of the Processor if it needs it. (I always do anyway)

PROPERLY apply fresh, new Thermal Paste.
