Question about Vizio Televison & Video

1 Answer

I'm trying to repair this Vizio L37 HDTV. At first I counldn't get any power, the LED wouldn't even come on. I replaces the fuse with a 5A slow blow. The power indicator now comes on. When I turn the TV on there is no picture and I here a screeching sound from the power board. All the capacitors pass the visual inspection. I've seen one MOSFET had a little burn on the backside of the PC board. I took it out and tested it and it passed the multimeter test, all conection were OL except the connection between the Gate and the Source which was 0.628. I can see no other physical damage to the power board. Can anyone help me, please?

I plugged the TV in again and then I heard a loud pop. I then figured that was it for that one. I proceeded to recycle it.

Cable port broken off vizio L37

The Main Board will need replacement. Soldering in another cable connector will usually not work in most cases unless you change the entire tuner

It is likely that the O/P transistors have blown, especially if the fuse keeps blowing and the O/L led comes on. It's a repair shop jobbie

I need to know where I can get a fuse for a Vizio TV?

Fuses can be bought from most of the electronics sparepart shops. There will be markings on its end caps, about its rating and voltage. Can be of any company's type, provided the voltage and other ratings marked should be the same. There are slow-blow and fast-blow types available. In TVs, slow-blow type should be used. But before replacing a new fuse, check whether there is any reason for the present fuse to blow up. Without any reason, no fuse will blow up. OK.

My vizio is three years old one day watching it and then off no picture no sound no led light is there a reset or a fuse

Had EXACT same thing happen this week. Same TV as yours, 3 yrs old (purchased Feb 2008, Costco). TV wouldn't turn on, and usually does a "click-click" when you insert the power cord and now nothing.

Solution - had to replace a single $1 fuse.

1) Put tv face down on a flat surface
2) remove legs
3) remove back (there's like 30 screws with 3 different sizes/threadings)
4) right where the power connects up to the big main brown circuit board, there's 2 fuses flanking the sides of a white clip.
5) I test the fuses and the one on the left blew out.
6) Fry's + $5 for 5-pack of Slow Blow 8amp 250v fuse = fixed TV.

I would bet that it's the same for you. A little labor, but much cheaper than a new tv or repair shop.

Note, the fuse is a litte hard to remove, just try to put something underneath it or maybe even pry it out with plyers. It's ceramic so pretty hard to break but still don't squeeze with the plyers too hard.

You'll need the 5mm x 20mm, ceramic, slow blow out 8amp 250v fuse. Radio Shack doesn't carry it. Fry's does. As I'm sure other places online will as well.

Cracked screen on a 46inch VIZIO hdtv

Not,worth repairing.LCD screen pannel is limited produce. Will cost the same as a new tv,after replacing the LCD screen might even cost more after part and labors.LCD screen is 90% of the tv,if it broken or damage not worth as a whole tv anymore. It now only worth as salvage electronics boards parts.

Need to replace power supply to vizio l37 hdtv, difficulty level?

simple. take the stand out first, then the surrounding screws on back cover. Remove back cover and the power supply is just right there. Make sure you wear ESD or you may short out the fuse.
