I am a professional maid and one of my clients just had her Hoover Elite Vacuum belt break. I bought the belts ... but cannot find a manual online and do not know what the model number is. I am scheduled to be in her home in exactly one hour! HELP! HOW DO I CHANGE THE BELT -WHEN I CANNOT FIND A MANUAL? Many Thanks! Lynn
This is no problem! You will need a flat blade screwdriver and about 10 minutes!
*Always use genuine hoover parts for repairs, discount store belts can be as much as 1" longer than OEM parts, leaving you with a slipping, less than desirable effect.
To replace this belt:
Remove the bottom plate by inserting the screwdriver into the slots on either side and then gently pulling up on the plate. It will pivot from the front so lift from the back.
Pull out the brushroller and old belt.
Remove the height adjustment knob on the top of the hood by lifting it up or prying on it.
Loosen the hood by sliding the screwdriver inbetween the base and the hood and prying outward.(from the bottom) There should be arrows moulded into the base pointing to the positions where the tabs are. (4 tabs)
Lift the hood off of the machine
Put the new belt around the brushroller and place the brushroller in place.
Pull the belt through the hole and put it over the motor spindle. Careful to make sure there is no twist in the belt. This can be difficult as there is plenty of tension on belt.
Replace the hood. It should snap into place.
Replace the height adjustment knob
Replace the bottom plate.
Best of Luck!
