Everytime I turn on the camera, the lens comes out but after a second the lens retracts and the green light below the shutter button flashes. Can you help?

I had the same problem when i went to casio they told me it was the battery so ibought a battery when it did not fix it i got my other digital camera switched memory cards now it works fine so i guess i'll be buying a new card on the bright side the memory card worked fine in the other camera and now i have an extra battery which i got from sourcing map for $8.99 my only complaint was that it took almost a month to get here but was still $30 cheaper than wal-mart

I had exactly the same problem I seem to have solved it by holding down the shutter button and then pressing the on/off button. It powered up and the lens stayed out. It was not auto focusing, so I placed it into manual focus and ran it back and forth in manual focus mode. (The circular button on the back adjusts manual focus by pressing it to the right or left) I suspect it's part of the start up self test that checks to see if the auto focus system is working, if it fails it shuts off. I think I stumbled onto a override of sorts by the button combination. Running the manual focus seemed to help. I do have a small black area in the upper right of the screen that gets no light - a dark spot. I store the camera in my pocket, I wonder if some pocket fuzz got into the camera somehow...

When trying to turn the camera on, the lens will not extend fully. it extends partially, and then the camera turns itself off, leaving the lens in the partially extended position. you have to try and turn...

Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to lens error problems can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some last resort troubleshooting steps that you can try that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try.

Turns on for 1/2 second and turns off

It sounds like the focus element inside the lens is stuck. This is usually either due to an impact knocking the elements out of alignment, or to sand/debris entering the focus motor's gear drive and preventing it from rotating. The buzzing sound you hear is the focus motor attempting to rotate, but buzzing up against some obstruction. When the lens extends, you hear a buzzing sound, and then the lens retracts - this is usually the cause of the issue. Unfortunately there is not much you can do externally to fix this problem. The camera will need to be taken apart and repaired by a professional or by the manufacturer. David Millier

I turn camera on. Lens comes out. beep 3 times. turns off.

Everytime I try to turn it on, the lens comes out for about a second, the camera beeps 3 times, the lens retracts and the camera shuts off. The battery is completely charged and the camera is only 4 months old. HELPP :(

Tentative solution:
I had the identical problem. I went as far as disassembling the camera ... not recommended.

Instead of fussing with the lens cover, I pressed on the lens assembly (gently), the lens retracted and the lens cover closed.

My camera works now. It will be my last Kodak.

Good Luck,

Will not turn on

Sounds like your lens is stuck. Try a gentle tug and it should open all the way. Then you can power your camera down.
