From the way you describe it, sounds like the heating element is gone. It is located under the silver tube under the back cover.
Check to make sure there are no breaks in the element.
The element looks like a big long spring..

On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse (a heat-sensitive fuse that blows if the dryer overheats) mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse is about an inch long. It's usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing.

If the fuse has blown, it has no continuity. When this happens, your dryer either just stops heating, or it doesn't work at all. Be sure to inspect the venting/heating system before replacing the fuse to put the dryer back into operation. (You can't re-set this type of fuse.)

Our Neptune gas dryer seems to work fine but suddenly produces no heat. The vent is clear and the gas line attached and open.

Look at the glow ignitor. If it is broken then it needs to be replaced. About 20 dollars, and a 5/16 wrench will fix this issue, just make sure that you unplug the dryer before you start touching the electrical. This piece is located in the bottom of the dryer behind the back panel.
