Re: Magellan 300 Roadmate

I think you are going to struggle here.
It may be possible to put the sounds back using the Magellan RoadMate PC application it is mentioned in the manual and on the web site but I cant see where to obtain it!

You are not alone, there is a thread here with people complaining about their receiver and trying to find the software.

A reviewer here is actually using the software note the red warning about formatting the internal memory!

I checked P2P to see if the software was floating around but all I found were maps.

Sorry for all the links but I think you'd better be informed that this ain't a quick fix and contacting Magellan may be the only way.

I bought a used Magellan Roadmate 300 and it had a lot of directions saved in it. I tried to clear them off by going to user settings, then diagnostics, then repair to reformat internal memory. It...

The only option to reset the Magellan Roadmate 300, is by going to Option button, then select User Settings. Since it's no longer loading the map or you cannot do anything, what you can do is to send the device to the manufacturer, and have them reset the hardware.

Thank you and good luck!

No sound on GPS

The internal memory was formatted. This is a catastrophic occurrence and the most common E-mail message I get asking for help. Look under Bugs on the Tips and Tricks page for some background. Before buying an RM360 on eBay, make sure that it comes with the original Magellan SD map card and not a blank one, and make sure that the original owner did not format it! A formatted unit will not speak or make sounds. Because the RM360 is a discontinued device, Magellan WILL NOT FIX THIS. If you want to attempt a reflash, see the Hacking page.

Help me please

I had the same problem caused by reformatting the internal memory and this is what I did which worked for me:

Make sure you remove any SD memory cards before trying this fix.

First: find the base maps (NA_BSMAP.mgi and NA_BSMAP.nlt)maps which are located in your computer in the Magellan Roadmate Manager (C:\ProgramFiles\Magellan\Magellan RoadMate Manager NA\Map\Basemaps)

Second: Connect your Roadmate with the USB cable to your computer.

Third: Plug in USB and power up your GPS. Cut and paste the two files mentioned above to your GPS (Devices with Removable Storage (example E:/). They are approximately 25 MB in size and will take a few minutes to copy.

Fourth: Unplug the USB cable and shut power off to the GPS.

Fifth: Power up the GPS and it should find the "base maps".

Good luck!!

Magellan roadmate 300 wont turn on!

I think the problem is with the internal power jack which tends to break. the part is MG361213 and is available at You have to take the Unit apart and remove the old jack and resolder the new one which is a three pin unit.

Good Luck
