VS-60601 Mitsubishi Problem...

Hi, we have a Model VS-60601 Serial # 113332 Mitsubishi that is about 5 years old I think. The problem that we are having is that whenever we turn on the TV, the little green light turns on and the TV sounds like it is turning on, but then it turns off. My husband tried to look behind the TV and looked at the circuit board. He said the circuit board had black on it.

That model is famous for the CRts leaking onto the chassis which causes all kinds of problems and can cause the main circuit board to short as well as destroy the solder. Try looking at the board for evidence of a pastey substance that would indicate CRT coolant leakage. Let me know what you find.

1998 Mitsubishi vs-60601 picture is dull and not as vibrant as it should be

the first thing I would do is to clean the lenses of the CRTs they may be coated with dust that will dim the picture. other than that the CRTs may be failing since the phospher of CRTs fade in brightness over time and the only solution is to replace all three CRTs. the CRTs I have discovered are no longer availible.

Mitsubishi VS 60601 picture

You need to change the convergence IC's my friend. If you know how to solder and work on printed circuit boards, this is an easy repair, BUT if you have no experience, play it safe and let a pro do this repair for you. Good Luck
