Question about Casio FX-115ES Scientific Calculator

Hello,

Here is the link to the calculator's manual. You might find it interedting to download the manual and the appendix. Both links are on the page.

Hi,

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

goodluck!

Here how it is done. Don't mind the calculator it was done on. On your you may have systems of up to 3 linear equations.

Follow the screen captures. I do not think any additional comments are warranted. Pressing the F1 key (REPT)-- see last screen capture--allows the user to repeat the solution with the same coefficients or other ones (different system)

This calculator cannot manipulate algebraic expressions. You can enter an expression and generate a table of values. You can enter an equation in one unknown and solve it. But you cannot do algebra.

You would need a calculator that has a Computer Algebra System (Algebra FX 2.0, or ClassPad 300/330). Sorry.

Unfortunately, the TI-30Xa calculator does not handle algebraic expressions.

If you are interested in knowing more about the capabilities of the calculator, follow the link to download the guide book.

Hi there,

My name is adieh.have a great day.

I will give a simple example on how to convert your answer into decimal form. Indicated below:

Q: Simplify 1/2-5/13 convert to decimal

Answer:

Step 1: Enter 1/2 by pressing 1>a/b>2.

Step 2: Subtract by pressing - (negative sign or minus sign)

Step 3: Enter 5/13 by pressing 5>a/b>13.

Step 4: Find the difference by pressing**= (equals sign)**

**Step5: Convert to decimal by pressing (change)**

** You can find( change) on the right side of your calculator beside M+ key**

I am suggesting you to visit this website http://files.sharpusa.com/Downloads/ForHome/HomeOffice/Calculators/Manuals/Archive/cal_man_ELW535B_TeachersGuide.pdf

for you to have further knowledge about various functions of your sharp calculator since you are attending a business/algebra class.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using fixya.

It is always risky to try to answer a question about a calculator of an undisclosed model.

To be able to symbolic algebra (with variables), one needs a calculator with CAS (or Computer Algebra System). These types of calculators are special graphing calculators. ( Not all graphing calculators have a CAS.)

To get back to your question: No, you cannot do algebra with a mere scientific calculator even a recent one. All you can do is define an equation with variables A,B,C,D, Y and X and press the Solve button if it exists. The calculator will ask: Solve for X?. If you say yes, you will be prompted for the values of all letters (A,B,C,D, Y) in your equation and the calculator will search for the value of X, that makes the left side of your equation equal to the right side.

It will display the X-value and the difference L-R.

the 89 is in my opinion not need/ approriate for a 10th grade algebra class, or worth the extra money.

for example the 84 wont output variables it must output a number

so your son may be doing factoring, if he inserts (x^2+2x+1) the 89 will allow him to enter it and factor it as (x+1)(x+1) or (x+1)^2 the 84 will not.

the 84 will do pleanty as far as graphing, finding zeros, plotting, calculations, and should get him any answer that he seeks so long that he knows how to use the 84. It just wont give him the intermediate steps the the 89 is able to give.

hope this helps

Hi,

If I understand correctly you want to perform matrix calculations on matrices the coefficients of which may be numbers and/or letters (variables, parameters). While you can calculate on numerical matrices, you cannot do so with matrices with non numerical coefficients. this calculator does not know symbolic algebra.

For symbolic algebra and calculus you would need a calculator with a CAS, Computer Algebra System. Exemples of those are the TI89, Ti92, Ti Voyage 200 PLT, The Casio FX-Algebra, the Casio ClassPad, HP48S/X/G/GX/G+, HP49G/49G+, HP50G, HP48GII etc.

Hope it Helps.

Thanks for using FixYa and for rating this solution.
