Question about GE Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I broke off the grounding on the electrical plug to GE Airconditioner model AGR05LHG1. I don't need the whole plug assembly - just the end part that connects in a box. Can I purchase just that portion? It is attached with a simple screw.

Sorry, I realized with your response that I did not make myself clear. I know that I need the whole plug, but when I go to the parts replacement, I have only the option of purchasing the whole cord assembly INCLUDING the end plug. I ONLY need the end plug! Can I purchase just that part? The whole electrical plug assembly is over $50 & I only paid $90 for the unit brand new.

If you broke off the ground prong, you need the whole plug.

Home Depot, Lowes or ANY decent hardware store will have a 3 prong plug for around $5. Pick the style that suits the amperage you need. If the unit is relatively new, simply a 15 amp plug will do.

It likely needs all the parts replaced.

GE had a campaign (but not a recall, mind you!) covering several models.

The parts kit for some models (that GE used to pay for) is part # WB27X10489 and is shown in the photo below.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
