Re: playing games online.

there are two reasons for this issue,

1. open the desired ports of the router
2. the firewall of the router is blocking it.

first the speed has a relation with yout ISP not you router or modem, unles youre tranfers files on a network, home or office.
So for todays surfing the way you want you need a broadband connection of at least 2MBS or greater.

Hi, my dwa 131 wireless usb adapter is having some problems, i seem to experience lag spikes when playing "Dota" online. anyadvise?

Make sure that your internet speed is fast so you wont get any lag while playing "DOTA". Another case is that you might be too far from your wireless router that's why you are experiencing lag spikes. Also try to reinstall the driver of your router if it's not the case. Are you experiencing this while only playing dota?

I have a ps3 that i use the Belkin router on. I am constantly getting kicked out of games because it says to check internet connection. I can play some games for an hour and when it starts to lag and kick...

I see two possible causes for your problem, one is beyond your control, the other is relatively simple.
Your ISP may be throttling your throughput after a certain amount of time, and there is not much you can do to change that other than call and complain.
The second could be an issue with your router's firewall.
What you may need to do is set a Static IP address on your PS3, and forward the necessary ports to that address. This guide should help.
After all that is said and done, you should be able to stay connected, and lag should be minimal to non-existent.

I have a Belkin Wireless router and I have a PS3

Actually you don't need to forward ports when playing online games. The router should automatically locate the ports for the game because it has UPnP function. Here's what you can do. Disable the port forwarding and DMZ that you set on the router. Look for the UPnP function of the router and disable, Save it. Enable it again, then save. Now power cycle your router. If you have Static IP on the PS3 network settings, try to set it first to automatic IP and automatic DNS.

Hope that helps.

Same problem as original poster.

Try to reduce the MTU of your router. Access the router's setup page and look for MTU settings. Set it to manual. If you are on DSL Internet, set the MTU to 1492. If you are on Cable Internet 1400. Power cycle the router after that. Then if that didn't help, you need to udpate the firmware of your router and hard reset it after the firmware update.

My internet become very lag when playing online game

First, try to reset and reconfigure the router. If that doesn't resolve the issue, you must update the firmware of the router. After updating the firmware, it is recommended to do a hard reset. Hold the reset button at the back of the router for 20 seconds, then unplug the power cable for 20 seconds and plug it back in. That should resolve the laggy issue.

Dropping Connection

All the LED except power should be flashing, that indicates traffic flow, power should be steady.

If all wired and wireless connections fail it is unlikely the router, more likely the cable/adsl modem that is dropping connection. Test by connecting a pc directly to the cable modem, watch for dropouts. If fails, contact your ISP service dept for line check and do a cable speed check from an online source.

Check also terms of service for the package you bought, many low end services restrict speeds below dialup if you go over your transfer limit. Multiple pcs playing online games use a lot of bandwidth. the speed restriction may put you below the threshhold for game server

I cannot connect anything else;

You can set the IP of the laptop to a permanant one so that it does not try and take the same one that the desktop has.. As for the Playstation sounds like a memory error

We have 2 gamming computers on our sb5100 moto and connected to the wrt150n. when one person is gamming and the other person is gamming on the other same game using the internet, the other computer ha

Well, since one is playing Battefield well, and the other is not, I do not think that the lag is from the connection, but from the machine itself.. Probably the NIC or the Processor tied to the NIC..

The first thing I would do is try upgrading the Drivers for the NIC.. If you are running this through a wireless connection, try hard wiring it directly to the router and see if you still have a degraded response.. If no, then it is the WiFi adapter that is causing the issue, and I would consider again, first updating the drivers, or replacing the WiFi Nic..

Lots to consider here, but those would be my first steps to take..
