Question about Bose (321GS) System

Open Question

Bose V20, HDMI Connection but no sound on Samsung

Hi,
I was in the same situation until I found a solution (sort of).
I purchased the V20 including the new LED-Samsung and had problem getting the sound out on my Bose (cable tv).

I started with the tv-signal into the tv, then optical cable to my Bose. kind of worked, except the optical cable had poor connection and actually fell off a few times.

However, I was waiting for my hd-tuner, so when that arrived, I did the following:
tv-signal into the tuner, then cable from tuner to my Bose (cab/sat inlet HDMI), then HDMI to the tv. I set my "tv-button" to select cab/sat as default (HDMI input on tv).

Now, that works fine, except control over things.
If I want to control tv-settings (not channels) I have to use the tv-remote. The bose-control will let you turn on/off the tv (most likely) if you select "samsung" + one of the appropriate codes. I can not control the tuner channels, so I have to use another remote for that...(same with the DVD/HD player).

So, it kind of works for tv/radio/dvd, but I would really like to get away from having all the remotes.

So, when it gets to you problem, I guess you could do it the same way; let the tv-signal go into the bose, then use HDMI to the tv.

Best of luck...

SOURCE: Bose Lifestyle V20 Error 180

OK talked with Bose just a minute ago and they were able to correct the issue.

We disabled the power cord from the back of the media console (where the HDMI cables connect) and left it off for a minute or two.

Powered the media console back on and it is working as expected.

Was told by the Bose tech that the common reason for this issue is due to the use of the HDMI cables that have a propritary security protocol that is used between the media console and the component it is attached to (ie TV, Cable/Sat, BluRay ...ect).

I asked if there was a BIOS upgrade if it was indeed a "handshaking" issue and was told there was not one (yet).

If one becomes available, it will be shipped via mail on a CD\DVD that can be used in a CD\DVD player that is connected to the media console using the HDMI cable.

Hope this helps!

Make sure the HDMI device (TV, Blueray player) is set up for audio output. Usually HDMI 1 is the only connection that has audio out. Also some TVa have to be configured for HDMI audio out.

Hi - Don't know about the switching LEDs but there is no reason to be using both the HDMI cable AND a digital coax cable to the V20.

You should have a single HDMI (carries video and 5.1 audio) cable from the DVD to the DVD input in the V20.

I have a Bose v20 when i use my Panasonic DVD hd recorder it doesn't sort through if it Dolby or 5.1 it stay on 2.0 i have connected it with hdmi & optical cable

Hi Peter,You will need to check the input menus of both the Panasonic and Bose System and tell each of the units that they can output and accept 5.1 channel Look for wording such as PCM(2 Channel),DTS (5.1), and Dolby digital (5.1) AC3 (5.1). Sometimes inputs can be set up as auto, or analogue. I reckon that one of the two is setup to be fixed on PCM
Good Luck
Hope this helps

No sound from rear/ surround speakers on Bose V20

Yes, very easy and cheap if you get it from the right place. Fiber Optic going from the output of the device to the input of the receiver. If your lucky enough to have an input/output fiberoptic in your tv, run the fiber from the device to the tv input, fiber the output of the tv to the receiver so not only are you getting the device full surround sound, but you'll also get better TV surround sound for those that are made with Dolby pro logic II sound. (pretty much all the newer movies and shows)

Hi, I have an error 180 message in my bose lyfestyle V20

"Error 180" is either very bad (video board is defective) or just a temporary fluke and meaningless.. Best case-> the "error 180" could be fixed by a simple reset (unplug the DC power cable from the media center for about 30+ seconds). Worst case-> this will have to be sent to Bose for repair. Try re-seating any HDMI or component cables at the back panel as well. If you can see your system menu (by pressing 'system' on the remote) then the video board may be fine. If not, still reset it before determining anything else. Also, if the input device (DVD player) is connected with HDMI, and the output (the V20) is component.. this canl cause the error as well.

check the voltage setting on the power supply that connects the power cord to the media center. Mine was set to 230V. Changed it to 115V and the video starting working.
