Whirlpool oven won't bake

My oven (Whirlpool mod#GY396LXPB00) will not bake, I think it's a control panel problem but I'm not sure.  The bake button does nothing!  The custom broil and self clean cycle both function. The door locks when you activate the self clean and works properly. It started acting up the other day, my wife tried to bake something and couldn't adjust the temp., when you push the bake button it starts at 350 automatically and then you adjust from there, well it would not adjust, the up and down keys didn't funtion. So we used the oven at 350 and then it wouldn't shut off, the off button didn't function, I had to go open the breaker to shut the oven off. When I reset the breaker (allowed time to cool) I had my current problem, no bake funtion at all. Any input or advice would be appreciated! THANKS

secondary question:  do both the top and bottom elements function on a self cleaning cycle? I let it run for about 5-10 min and only my top element worked.

SOURCE: Electric Oven not getting hot enough

Sir, I think the top oelement is for broiling ONLY. It should not turn on when baking. The clicking may be the oven heating up.
How far apart were the oven temp instrument and the digital?
Don't expect them to match...they are inaccurate.

1. Heat water until it boils. Place digital therm in boiling water until it comes up to 212deg. If it is not at 212 in boiling water, record the error.(this gives a rough calibration to the digital)
2 Turn on oven, set to 350 deg, place digital therm on rack. Wait until oven reaches 350 (on stove) and read the digital. Note the difference between the two

SOURCE: Broiler will work, but oven wont

Could be the bake igniter is bad and broil igniter is still good. may need to replace the bake igniter you will need a complete model number off range to determine the part number of the igniteryou may need.

Oven won't bake

Sounds like a connection issue to the control panel and the lower portion of the unit. Contact a professional to have the unit diagnosed unless you find the ohm reading to be off for either broil or bake element.

Whirlpool range glow bar glows but no gas for flame mod sf315pekq1 ser vep1506815

The problem beleive it or not is that the bake igniter is weak ,and it is not drawing the proper amprage to open the gas valve. If you have a amp meter access the wires to the bake igniter(usually behind the storage drawer) and check for 3.3-3.6 amps when oven is set to bake by clamping the meter around ONE wire wire of igniter make sure only one wire, either one and not both.
if amp draw less than 3.3-3.6 amps replace bake igniter. I know it seems improbable that if the igniter comes on that it could be the problem.Professional appliance technicians who would charge a average of $250.00 to repair your oven, have found when the igniter comes on yet the oven won't heat that a weak igniter is the cause 100% of the time

The part number for that igniter is 98005652 it could be purchased from your local appliance parts store or online at;

I have a range (whirlpool GS440LELQ0) that won't finish baking a cake (per the tenant). I checked out the oven manifold flame and it seems ok per the troubleshooting pages. I stopped and got an oven...

To check that sensor DISCONNECT POWER TO RANGE remove back panel and unplug sensor and on the part of the wiring that connects directly to the sensor in the oven baking chamber, use a meter set to measure up to 2000 ohms and check the sensor at room tempature and if the sensor is good the readout on the meter will be between 1060-1100 ohms. If measure at room temp if the numbers are really high or low the sensor is bad, if its 1020-1120 that fine but 1400 would be a bad sensor also if were 950 it would be bad

I have a whirlpool range mod rf368lxpq o replaed probe and panel still very slow to come to temp. pre heat goes to about 200 deg and then veryy slow to come up to temp and hold temp

It sounds like one of the elements are not working. There should be a concealed element in the bottom of the oven and a 'bake assist' element at the top iether seperate from the grill element or as a dual element assembly. Both of these elements should heat on bake function (not the grill element though), check for heat from both by turning bake on and feeling for heat from top and bottom. The oven requires heat from bot to get up to and maintain temp.

Hope this helps
