Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

On the last spin cycle, the spin seems to be out of control. It is much faster than it has been, and the only way to turn it off is to manually turn the knob to off and push in the start control.

It is a Kenmore front load washer purchased in 2003, SN 41743142200. The fast spin occurs only on the last cycle.

    Thanks.

I appreciate the information, but I don't know yet whether it is helpful. In an on-line schematic of the washer, I can't find a clutch; however, my contact told me where it is. I'll have to dismantle the machine first to see whether I should proceed.

Did you notice this problem on the wash cycle or when you have different settings? My first guess is that the clutch may need to be replaced on the unit if this is happening as that would be the most likely reason that it would spin too fast or you are getting too much voltage sent to the motor. What is the make and model of the unit as would help knowing too?

Ok, well, then the first two things I would have checked is the voltage going to the motor during this spin and also get the clutch checked which require taking off the outer panel of the machine. The screws will be on the bottom and backside of the machine and then taking a voltmeter to the incoming voltage to the motor first (let me know what you measure during this) and measuring it and then if it checks out the clutch needs to be removed and checked to see if it is working properly which I would have a professional do since you probably are not used to this type of work.

If you don't feel comfortable doing any of the above yourself, then don't. I don't want you to get hurt, it is better to be safe than sorry. Let me know of any other questions that come up.

Wixe167 just stopped running while spinning on last cycle

It stops spinning because the load is unbalanced. It will cycle over and over until the load is even then it will kick into a faster spin. Unbalanced loads could be due to too many items in the washer of a stabilizer problem in the hardware of the machine,

Water drains but spin will not spin

This can be due to problems in the program cycle as it seems to over ride the program.
This can also be due to fault in the program controller unit , please try this with a separate program, also clean the drain , check the connections to the controller, check for fault in the level sensor.

Washing machine 11 years old is jumping on the wash cycles. EG instead of taking 25 mins its taking 10 mins to complete -clothes coming out wet unless manually turn to spin again

It is possible that the program is not running to the designed settings and so the program seems to skip the cycle.
The clothes come out wet because the spin cycle is not activated in the set program. Hence the program controller needs a check.

First became aware there was a problem when machine overfilled resulting inj flooding, cold water fill would stop when i turned on a tap ,suspected water pessure switch.new water pressure switch fitted...

If it works O.K. in a different wash cycle, then the timer could well be the issue.
Using that last cycle you described, will it perform a complete normal cycle ???

Drum will not spin

Hi,
I am the new owner of a used Asko Cylinda 10504.
The last owner briefly demonstrated the washer starting a wash cycle and entering the agitation cycle of the wash before stopping and pumping the water out and spinning in a final end cycle. I bought it. I had the machine installed turned it on and cannot get it to go through the wash cycle. After starting at #1 it goes through a perpetual spin cycle of sorts--water and soap soaking the drum and laundry but not enough water to fill up half way or less. It stops at number 4 on the program knob sits on a red dot (next to the #4) and does nothing. I then manually move it to the next cycle and it repeats the spin cycle again until I have advanced the program to the end. No wash cycle no rinse cycle. Nothing. When it advances to the red dot I wait for at least 5 minutes before manually advancing the knob. The instructions say that I should get the water pumped out by turning the program knob to #7 or #9 but in both cases it just spins and does no empty or finish in the end spin cycle of several (9?) minutes. Nothing but banging and spinning. The water seems to get into the drum as well as the detergent but nothing else is happening.
No mater where I start the program it spins and sloshes soapy water, pumping almost nothing out.
Any suggestions short of putting it on the curb or paying a kings ransom to fly a tech out to look at it?

MY GUESS.
It seems that it is repeating the same brief cycle over and over. During the move to my house the electronics re set(??!?!?) and now need to be set to the normal mode after being re connected?
Can you help?
Blessings,
Douglas

Danby front load washer Will not spin motor runs

If the "Spinning Off" button is pushed in you will get this problem.
It happened to my wife last week.
If the drum is turning the belt is OK

24642300 doesn't spin

  • yes it does sound like the timer is bad.
  • the timer has small contacts in it (sort of like a music box) that lift and rest in certain places.
  • these contacts may not mate properly as the timer goes around slowly in the normal operation.
  •  but when you manually turn it is a faster turn and the contacts will fall faster and get a better connection.
