Camera loses settings when switched off

Camera reverts to default settings when switched off.  When new it would keep settings such as resolution, switch on/off sounds etc.

I have looked for a small battery which would keep memory alive but there doesn't seem to be one.  I suspect there must be one but it is internal.  I seek confirmation before dismantling.

Thank you

I too own a Fuji FinePix S5500 that reverts to default settings when the batteries go flat. Not a huge problem, but certainly very annoying. Is there an internal battery that needs replacing? Seems like a logical possibility-though I'm not game to go looking myself. Otherwise, as far as sub-SLR cameras go it's been fantastic.

Usually digital cameras have a small battery cell to run the memory to store time, date, data. May be that battery drained out if you change the battery it will work

There is a small battery that is soldered onto one of the printed circuit boards in the camera. There is a procedure that someone posted on the web (I think I originally found the link on and information on the battery itself. The procedure took maybe an hour from start to finish and afterwards the camera would keep it's settings just like when it was new.

How do I get missing Icons back on my PC screen

The higher the resolution, the more likely you will be able to see your icons.
1. Open Display in Control Panel. 2. On the Settings tab, under Screen resolution, drag the slider, and then click Apply. 3. When prompted to apply the settings, click OK. Your screen will turn black for a moment. 4. Once your screen resolution changes, you have 15 seconds to confirm the change. Click Yes to confirm the change; click No or do nothing to revert to your previous setting. Note
• To open Display, click Start, click Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes, and then click Display. • A higher screen resolution reduces the size of items on your screen and increases the relative space on your desktop • You can switch your screen resolution temporarily to 640 X 480 if you have games or other programs that are set to run at that resolution. To switch, right-click the game or program (on the desktop or on the Start menu), and then click Properties. Click the Compatibility tab, and then select the Run in 640x480 screen resolution check box. Your display reverts to its default resolution when you close the program. • Your monitor and video adapter determine how much you can change your screen resolution. You may not be able to increase the resolution above a certain level. • Changes to screen resolution affect all users that log on to the computer. • Only the recommended screen resolutions are listed. For additional settings, click the Advanced button on the Settings tab, click the Adapter tab, and then click List all Modes. Select the resolution, color level, and refresh rate you want.

The text on my pc keeps going blue, how can I stop it?

Windows allows you to change the themes of your computer. This includes the wallpaper, the screensaver when your computer is idle, any noises it makes, and even the color of the toolbars and windows. Sometimes, however, when you restart your computer, the theme will revert back to the Windows default theme, which is called Aero. This can be because you have not disabled Aero, because your performance settings are using too much energy, or because your screen resolution is too high or low for the theme you are using.
Screen Resolution b> The higher your screen resolution, the sharper the images and text will appear. Sometimes, however, the of the wallpaper for the theme is not the same as the screen resolution. This can cause your theme to revert back to the default. To fix this, click the "Start" button. Then click "Control Panel." In the "Control Panel" window click "Adjust Screen Resolution" under "Appearance and Personalization." Select the resolution that is the same as your wallpaper. b> Performance Settings b> If your computer is running on high performance settings, your computer's energy will be used quickly and Windows may automatically change the screen saver to keep the energy from running to low. To change your performance settings, open the "Control Panel" and click "System and Security." Then click "Change Battery Settings" under "Power Options" and select "Power Saver" or "Balance." b> Disable Aero b> Aero is the default theme setting for Windows Vista and Windows 7. If you try to change your theme and it reverts back to Aero, it is because Aero is still not disabled. To disable Aero, right-click on your desktop and click "Personalize." A window of all the themes on your computer will open. You will see "My Themes," which are any themes you have created, and "Aero Themes" under it. To disable Aero, click "Save Theme" under "My Themes" to make your current settings default, or select one of the themes under "My Themes." This will make that theme the default. b> Troubleshooter b> If you still cannot figure out why Windows changes the theme back to the default after restarting, you can use Windows's built-in troubleshooter. The troubleshooter will find the source of the problem and automatically fix it for you. To use the troubleshooter for your theme, open the "Control Panel" and click "System and Security." Then click "Troubleshoot Common Problems." Under "Action Center," select "Appearance and Personalization." The troubleshooter will run. When you restart after it completes its action, your theme should stay the same. Hope this helps.

I keep losing date and time function. I was told a capacator needs to be replaced. How do I get access to it?

Welcome to FixYa.

One possible reason why do you keep losing the date and time is just because you left the camera for a day with the battery removed. The date and time will revert to the factory default settings.

I have here the link wher you can see the steps and image on how you can set and save the date and time on your camera. Just click here. Refer to page 86-87.

Feel free to send us your comments and suggestions if this solution was helpful

Thank you for using FixYa.

Try resetting with Control + g rather than just g

Turn on the Winterm and immediately hold control + g (at the same time)

The display should flicker for a bit then release the control + g

This will reset the device to factory defaults, (you'll lose your connection settings, network settings, etc) -- but you'll be able to use it again. :)

Can't get the full LCD to remain available-defaults to frame

Is it just the display that behaves this way? Please check the Image Quality option in the shooting or settings menu. Select the Largest option available (normally you get options such as Large and Fine). This will make the camera shoot in full resolution. After taking the picture, access the menu again and check whether the camera has automatically changed the Image Quality to a lower resolution.

Selected resolution will not save

You need to change the setting in the Menu of ALL RESET from ON to OFF so that it will retain any setting changes that you make. To do this Press Ok button - right arrow to Mode Menu - down arrow to Setup tab - right arrow to All Reset - right arrow and choose Off and then press Ok. This will retain the mode setting until you manually change it again or change all reset back to On.

You could check your DPI setting in the display, being a large monitor your DPI setting shoul be up around the 75 - 85 Hertz.
To access this
Control Panel --> Display --> Settings --> Advanced --> Monitor and then click the drop down box and see what the DPI is set to and keep trying the different options until it is clear.
Hope this helps.
