How i istall ethernet driver from internet

Hi,
If you have no internet because the ethernet controller was not installed, you will need to download the ethernet drivers from another computer.
To do this, you will need either the motherboard model or the ethernet controller model. Search google for your motherboard model, and then on the drivers page, find "LAN drivers". Download the drivers, save them to a usb and transfer and install them to your pc.

I reinstalled Windows XP to my computer and now i cant get the internet. There is a yellow question mark and exlmation point next to Ethernet Controller and it has a code 28 error.

You should have had 2 cds that came with your computer. The 2nd one has all the drivers on it. Install the drivers and your problem will go away.

Ethernet Controller is missing

You are unable to use the Ethernet, VGA etc. because you have not installed the drivers for the same.

You might have received a Drivers CD(it will read "Drivers and Utilities") which will be in blue color, when you got the computer from Dell.
In case if you haven't received it you can contact Dell on 1-800-624-9897 and request for a Driver CD. I guess this Dimension model is @ End of Life (I mean no more produced by dell) you might have to download the drivers from Dell's support site (www.support.dell.com) you will have to get it downloaded on a different computer and copy on a CD or a Flash drive.

Once you got all the drivers. First extract them in a separate folder

Go to Device manager
Right click on the Ethernet controller (where you see a yellow exclamation)
Click update drivers
Show the path where you have the driver files

Ethernet controller

Hello there.

It sounds like at first guess, you do not have the necessary drivers installed. Your ethernet card is not supported by Windows unless you install the driver. You can verify this by right clicking "My Computer" then clicking "Properties" then clicking the
"Hardware" tab and finally "Device Manager". Notice if there are any devices not currently installed.

Please click here to see the webpage with the drivers. Your ethernet uses NVIDIA nForce4 System Drivers so thats the one to click.

Notice there are other drivers on the website too. For example sound.

Hope this helps.
