f'lite Samsonite combination lost and stuck locked:
I removed the lock unfastening the 2 torx screws from the case.
Next I removed the pin that holds the RED tab thingy in place and the spring ( all this does is pushthe assembly to the right when a number is moved..... Take a picture of this before you dissassemble it. push it allthe way through..if you have fat fingers you are screwed. Anyway, remove the red thingy, and then carefully lift the remaining plate out taking note of the orientation.

First of all: the solution is aligning the cogs to 0-0-0 like from the factory. This is easy to do. when you remove the plate above , carefully do so without launching the dials and the spring into space....no matter.

Look at the bottom of the plate and notice there is a notch that will correspond to the cogs still in place on the lock assembly that should still be in place.

The cogs sit on a spring that sit on the backside of the dials with the numbers you can see when locking the suitcase.

Here is the meat:

1. with your finger or something turn the cogs until the black dot aligns outmost.
2 align the cogs so that notch will correspond to the orientation on the plate you just looked at. (that's it)!
Carefully replace the plate with finger pressure and actuate the latch-it should be unlocked and at the 0-0-0 position. If not repeat 1 and 2.

Push the pin through again, through the red thingy and the spring. BAMMM! you just saved your self a zillion dollars...still having trouble...mail me..

Email from Samsonite in response to my plea for help:
Dear Sir/Madam:
The following are the lock picking instructions you requested from Samsonite Consumer Relations.
1. Position the luggage so that the numbers on the wheel are
right-side-up as they face you and set all three wheels to “0′.
2. Starting with the wheel on the left, to the right of the wheel,
look into the narrow space between the right side of the wheel and
the body of the lock. Look down into the shaft. (If you have a
safety pin, straight pin, or thin nail file, place that in the
narrow space.)
3. While looking down into the shaft, rotate the wheel slowly. You
are looking for an indentation (a square notch). When you find
the indentation, stop and write the number down. (If you are using
a tool, the tool will fall into the indentation.)
4. Follow the process for the remaining two wheels.
5. Try to open the piece of luggage.
6. If the luggage still will not open, please try the following:
a) If the number on the wheel is over 5, subtract 5 from the
number showing. For example, if the number showing is 8 turn
the wheel to 3 because 8-5=3.
b) If the number is under 5, add 5 to the number showing. For
example if the number showing is 2 turn the wheel to 7
because 2+5=7. The numbers showing on the wheels will be
your combination.

the simplest solution is to start from 000 to 999. I assure within 20-30 minutes u will unlock it.
And smarter way is to start from a number near to your code. like if your code was 435, start from 300 . My experience says your code must be between 300 to 500.
This is a logical approach.as sometimes while setting the lock or somehow the lock keys might shift a little bit back and forth and
hence your code will change.
It took ,me just 4 minutes to get the code this way :-)
Good Luck.

The solution is best described in answer number 2 combined with the e-mail sent by Samsonite: when you look at the rotating wheel, with the help of a torchlight you'll see the gaps. Either this is the combination or you have to add 5 if the number is smaller than 5 or subtract 5 if larger as you are looking at the mirror image of the real combination. It should not take more than 1 or 2 minutes to open it.

Hello All,

there is a better solution than all these posted here.
Turn your suitcase (Samsonite F'LITE comfort) upside down. At this position all your numbers look upside down. Now with the help of a torch light you should see a small gap above the rotating thing (the one with which you change your number) Take the first rotating thing and rotate from 0 to 9, at some particular number you can see a small hole inside the small gap which I have mentioned before. Do the same for the next 2 rotating thing.
When you are done you can see the small hole(a tiny spring like material is seen in the hole) in all the three small gaps.
Now you can open the number lock. :-)
Have fun
Cheers
Divya

The easier and simple solution is to try the 1000 combination of 000 to 999. If this fails as in my case for the Delsy combination lock suitcase, I had gone for the samsonite customer care solution and it also did not work first time and after changing all the numbers + or - 5 it opened. It took me two 40 minutes for the first solution of all 1K combinations and 10 minutes for the second solution.

I have no idea how the code got changed and the new code is not anywhere near the original code.

Anyhow problem sorted out.

I knew the number but it would not open. My (smarter) husband suggested that one number may have been inadvertently changed when I last locked it. He was right. It did cross my mind but I was not smart enough to act on it - I guess I was too frustrated not being able to get to my goodies and everyone was waiting.

Yeap! Just sit on it and it pops open. From now on you will have to rely on the side snap closures to maintain you suitcase working for you!

you can flip the lock open with a scredriver or spoon without damage to the darn thing. to get a code is futile. i have lost my prints trying.

For my own curiosity, I have used the dummy way of just trying one after another 001, 002, ..., 340. There I stopped, 6 minutes needed for all that. 1000 possibilities only, this woulded count for 18 minutes for someone who does it for the first time. :) I'll remember from now to check my luggage after having it handled by other people. :)

HI, I am writing for my mom in Denmark who bought a new suit case and after several days, suddenly the combination lock is not working anymore, and her alarm clock is going off and she cannot get into the suit case. So if anyone has a solution for her before she needs to take her suit case back to the store (she is 82), I would be grateful to pass it on to her.
