First check check the pitch selector switch to be sure it is not in proportional spacing. if it isn't push down on it and see if it goes away, if is goes away the keyboard needs repaired.

If what you are saying is that you get 2 vertical lines instead of a letter start with a new printwheel, what you are seeing is the hammer face when it misses the printwheel.

Check the pitch selector slide switch on the L. side it should be at 10 or 12 not PS.

There are a few possibilities. If only the tops are printing Press down on the platen to be sure it is fully seated in the side frame. The T/W may be in the overstrike ribbon mode Code period, comma or slash will get you out of that mode.
