I bought an N73 few days ago and it proved to be a fake. Yours might be as well. Go to a specialized Nokia dealer and talk to him about this problem. Ask him if your n73 is a fake. Then you will know for sure. Good luck!

Hi is your Nokia N73 mobile is locked to network ..Then you can purchase unlock code from providers like Theunlockspot.com here they render unlock code for all mobile models ..You first check that whether they are rendering code for your country and network provider ..If yes then pay for it and unlock your mobile..
hi whether your nokia n73 mobile is locked by network then codes are the best solution to unlock it .to purchase codes visit classicunlocking.com here they ask you the country and network name to which your mobile is locked then the imei number of your mobile .finally they send you codes to unlock your mobile.
You cannot changed the IMEI number manually. You have to use a specific software and hardware to modify the number. The best option available is to get it done from a mobile repairing center or Service center, but you have to know the original number which is written on the battery compartment of the handset (labelled with the model number and RM type of your handset).
If you want to do it yourself, you have to know how to use the software like, Jaf box, UFS box etc.. and will also cost you more than the price of your handset (new n73 handset). So, I recommend you to visit a service center, tell them your problem and they'll do it for you, but they can change it into whatever they want, in order to get an original imei number, let them change it into the one which is printed on your mobile.
I also wonder how did you find out that it's not genuine.
Looks like its a problem with your battery,i hope you bough this phone from a nokia dealer,if you have brought from Grey market there are chances that the battery is fake.Check for authenticty of the battery,If found o.k .Check the dispaly settings
chinese versions of nokia phones are duplicates and fakes, they are pirated. there is not much you can do with them and it is a big risk to buy one. i wouldnt advise you to get any chinese version of any nokia phone.
the only way you might charge it is through a universal charger. make sure you have connected the betery corectly and then charge it till its fully charged. if that does not work, try getin a new batery
