Coleman A/C-Heat Pump Start and Stop Run Problems

My unit is not actually a Mach3 it ust made me use that to post my question,I'm not sure of my model,I'll describe things as best as I can, I have a 1995 coleman combination a/c-heat pump unit outside.Ok what's been happening is..I cought the outside unit still running when the inside blower had shut off,I tried to shut it off by turning the a/c control to off,but it kept running,I had to kill the power to it to shut it off. When I turned the power back on,it stayed off.The next day it ran normal,I looked each time the inside blower stopped and the outside unit was shutting off too.It was ok for lie 3 days, now today It started not wanting to shut off outside again,so I had to kill the power 3 different times. Now I got home, turned it on and the inside blower cam eon,but now the outside unit won't start.I tried flipping the breaker but it didn't help. All the other stuff in my house that runs off that beaker works fine,it couldn't be the breaker could it?I thought maybe the points were sticking and that's why it kept running maybe, but can bad points keep it from starting too?I thought maybe the thermostat but you can put it as low as like 50 and it doesn't matter it still won't start the outside unt now.Does anyone know what this could be?I need some help please,I''d appreciate it greatly. Thank You

SOURCE: fan wobbles on coleman MACH3

What is the model number of your current air conditioner? You will usually have to remove the upper shroud, evaporator housing and condenser housing to get all of this out. With that removed, the fan motor should have three or four studs holding it to the plate. Remove the screws from the plate and the whole assembly will lift out.

unfortunaletly the hartd start is a "last resort" and you will probably need to replace the compressor/unit... (however I have had luck physically jarring the compressor during the instant I applied power to the compressor.. sounds silly, but I have had it work more than once..) hope this helps

Either with a ladder and shop vac and long extensions and soft brush attachment from inside with flashlight for better view, or remove plastic cover on roof and then remove metal cover over evaporator by removing the short philips screws that hold it on.

How many watts is a coleman super mach

Specifications are listed below:

http://www.mycaravanparts.com.au/products/appliances/air-conditioning/coleman-mach3.aspx

Bear in mind, this A/C unit is made for Recreational Vehicles with a Heavy Duty Battery to power such devices for a short time and external power supply for extensive use. The watts listed in the specifications refers to cooling and heating power in watts, British Thermal Units (BTUs) was the old measurement term. Do not confuse these cooling and heating watts with the amount of electrical power consumption in watts. The two are unrelated. Power for this RV A/C unit comes from a battery or external RV connection point. Hopes this helps you.

I have a Mach3 unit with 1 capacitor 35uf 370 VAC and a fan capacitor, unit trips breaker after cooling RV when system starts up again, shouldn't there be a run, start, fan capacitor? only have 2...

You need to check the Amp draw at start up of the compressor. Also if you have a meter that can check the compressor capacitor, it needs to be checked. If the capacitor is ok and the compressor starts at a higher Amp draw than the rating on the capacitor, you will need a start capacitor.

Working on a coleman 3ton split unit in a mobile home, when thermostat calls for heat, the heat strips come on and blower comes on. heat strips go off before the thermostat is satisfied and the blower...

Probably a bad limit switch on the strips or the heat sequencer/relay is falling out after continued amp draw. I would lean toward the heat relay/sequencer. Havent heard of any problems with coleman limit switches. These units were prone to get water inthe electrical compartments due to the evap coil being right above it. Check to see where the power break is starting at the strips and working backwards throught the circuit. That will tell you for sure. Make sure you have 24v going to the heat sequencer too.

My Coleman rv mach3 63134cst which is about 3 years old won't cycle and freezes up when it runs to long. Ice forms on coils.

If coils are clean, or have been cleaned recently, then check your discharge side of unit for restriction. It may require you to take down ceiling assy, to be sure that there is nothing blocking the duct work inlets, if it is a ducted system. Also if ducted system, make sure you don't have too many blocked/shut off. As well you should have a freeze probe, or round sensor in the coils at front where intake filter goes over, (evaporator) to sense the frost, and kick compressor out until it thaws. When was the last time the evaporator and condenser (rear) coils were cleaned?

When I turn the air on the heat strips comes on at the same time

Is this a central heat? From the size i assume it is.
You say air conditioning on part of your question then use heat pump on another part. So it is important for us both be on the same page.
With all due respect some people think they have a heat pump and it is just AC and electric heat also but is not a heat pump.
. If you have the outdoor AC unit running with your thermostat set for heat and the air coming off the out door unit is cold, or you see it "steam up outdoors" off the out door unit at times (we call this mode defrost).

If you actually have a Heat pump system some times it is wired to have the strips come on at the same time the heat pump comes on especially if you experience a lot of weather below 40' occasionally and have an emergency heat setting on your thermostat you most likely have a heat pump.

If you have a heat pump for sure now the heaters can come on with the outdoor section if
1 they are wired to do so or
2 the thermostat has 2 stage heating and the second stage is telling the elements to come on, or
3 the outdoor thermostat (if so equipped) is telling the elements to come on.
Any 1 or combination of these 3 items can cause the elements to come on wit the out door unit.

I have a coleman/evcon heat pump. When the thermostat kicks on the contacts kick in and hum but the compressor nor the fan run. Is this probably my capacitor has gone bad?

I would check the hig voltage power supply to the unit. Check the main breaker and make sure it is on. Check the disconnect and make sure there is power at that point to the condensing unit. The contactor will kick in from the low voltage in the control circuit.

Tsr mach3 conditioner

The smell is because of the stuff growing inthe water from the air conditioner. When you run the a/c it keeps the water condensed on the coil. When you turn the a/c off and run just the fan, it allows the water to warm up and start evaporating thus allowing the goodies in the water to become airborn. It would be adviseable to have the unit disassembled and cleaned by a professional due to the obvious danger of mixing water and cleaning chemicals with electrical equipment
