Question about Canon imageCLASS MF6530 Monochrome Laser Copier/Printer

2 Answers

Trouble copying Our office primarily uses the MF6530 as a copier. The machine has turned out to be pretty bad. We are forced to use the side tray feeder, instead of cassette 1, because it wont pull the paper through from the cassette. But we have learned to live with that. The major problem is that now when we copy, the copier pulls paper through but the page is blank. I have checked the density settings, but they are fine. I'm not sure what else to try. The toner cartidge is relatively new, although I have taken it out and shaken it a bit, then put it back in. That shouldn't be the problem. It seems to be a scanning problem, in that it just doesn't see/scan the document on the glass. What could be causing this? Thank you very much for your time. -David

Re: Trouble copying

Theengel is right, but fortunately there is a simpler solution, see below (I posted it 20 times I think because this problem is very common).

Reason : the shutter of the laser is not opened by the cartridge. (I had same problem, and solved it)

Open the door and remove the toner. look inside and you will see in the upper part a rectangular window in the metal bar. This window is shut by a metal plate behind when the door is open. Try to raise it with a knife. This is the problem. Now, this shutter is here only for legal reasons (security to prevent the laser beam going out when door open, but when the door is opened the power is shut so...). Cut a piece of plastic just the width of the opening, fold it at angle in the form or an L, then place it on the left side of the opening, so that the shutter can no longer go down. A piece of scotch to fix it in place and you are done.

Now, if it works and you are grateful, I am interested in empty cartridges. If you have some tell me. Thanks.

Re: Trouble copying

When you close the door to the printer, there's something that opens the flap to the laser unit.  This makes it so the laser can shine down on the drum.  The flap isn't openeing when you close the door.  You'll have to look at the flap, and then follow all the mechanisms that eventually lead to the door.  There's a break in it somewhere.

Canon mf6530 shows "download connected."

you will need a service suport tool to rewrite the software on this machine.
It is necesary to contact a CANON tech to perform this operation, if you try to do it yourself you might damage it more.

Canon MF6530 display says Download Standy

OK here is the deal: Either you can fix it easily by yourself or you can't. The manufacturer's suggestion is that you first turn power switch off. Then unplug the machine and wait for 5 minutes. Then plug it in and power it on. If that doesn't work try it a couple of more times and hopefully the machine will reset itself. There are variations of this method on line that incoude pressing a series of buttons in a certain order while the machine is powered off, but these are little more than electronic voodoo. If the manufacturer's recommendations fail it means that one of your circuit boards is gone and needs replacement. The good news is that if you saved your sales receipt and it's less than 3 years old, it's all covered under warranty. Happy Trails.

Image print on paper slanting

Does it only happen when you copy through the auto feeder or from the contact glass too? If it's just from the feeder, then the rollers in the feeder are slipping and not feeding the paper straight, and need to be cleaned/replaced. If it happens from the contact glass, then it is most likely the rollers that move the paper through the machine that need cleaning - primarily the registration roller, but really all rollers from the paper tray to the exit should probably be serviced, and/or replaced where necessary.

Canon imageCLASS MF6530; can't set up duplex (2sided) printing

hi there
there are 2 ways to copy 2 sided
one is full duplex which means your copier must have a duplex attatchment fitted on the copier lid
the other if it hasn't got a duplexer is to copy in 1 to 2 mode which means you have to turn the copy over. it sounds like your machine has not got a duplexer fitted but it can still do double sided using 1 to 2.

hope this helps

the imageclass MF6530 cannot print in color it can only print in black and white. the only thing that this machine can do with color is to scan color documents to your computer otherwise it is a black and white copier and printer with color scan.
