Question about GE Refrigerators
My fridge which is an older model side by side GE, has started making this loud EEERRRR sound. My husband and I agree it's almost like on old game shows when they get a wrong answer, the buzzer sound. It does it randomly through out the day.
The previous owners stopped using it because it stopped working one day. But we set it up in our garage, plugged it in and it's worked perfect every since (that was 3 yrs ago) we just recently moved it from our garage, to the kitchen about 3 months ago, and have had no issues until yesterday. The freezer, and fridge part are still very cold, but the sound is driving me nuts. It echos through my house. Any ideas?
PS- it has a ice dispenser in the door, but we had never had it hooked up, since we dont have a water line running to it, so couldnt be problems with that. When we listen, it sounds like it's coming from the back on the right side (fridge side) thank you
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Own the same model, the icemaker and the dispenser work properly but the leak is top center of the refrigerator compartment.

If there is a reset button on your ice maker try pushing it. Many ice makers have two holes for reset. A general rule of thumb is if the ice maker fingers are stopped in a slightly vertical position then your ice maker unit is working. If the fingers are stopped anywhere else then it needs some sort of attention or replaced. Make sure there is water, or ice in the ice maker tray, if not then the problem is with water supply.

yes the evap fan in the frezer should be running when the compressor is running[it may not for a minute or so as it starts up.Amana's are good for the connectors at the evap fan motor comming apart.the connectors are white and will look like its together but when you pull it will come apart.i would always cut the connector out and use a wire nut so wont happen again.if any other questions please email thru FixYa and i will be glad to help. God bless ,tom
