SONY 61" Rear Projection TV

Color is not sharp. Picture is not sharp. There is a light green outline on images. I think it needs to be tuned. What and how do you tune this big screen TV? Is it something I can do?

Re: SONY 61" Rear Projection TV

A light green outline is called "blooming" --- caused by weak
green CRT...take lower,front cover off,locate screen/focus adjust
block. Push menu or in some way put stationary writing on screen
locate and adjust green focus control ONLY --......T.
PS. ????? I await your reply!

Re: SONY 61" Rear Projection TV

You will need to get a service manual for the tv and enter the service mode. then you will need to readjust the convergence.

Panasonic pt-61lcx66 green screen

i had the exact same problem on my samsung 65" hdtv slp rear projection tv. i called a couple of places to get a quote and they all told me one of the lights burnt out. i got frustrated and left it on for 5 days and now the green colour is gone and its perfect again.
i think it was either very cold or i had let moisture get in to the circuit boards.
i hope this also works for you.

Kp-65wv600 looks like I'm watching a 3D tv but not tv isnt 3D It has a blue, green and red out line behind the person could it be the lamp light and if so what color

Hello sburdano,
Welcome, and thank you for using FixYa!
To answer your question: The colors are all working, they are just out of alignment.
Judging by what you have said hear, I would assume that the television have been moved, rather roughly, or bumped into rather abruptly. The color wheel will need to be re-aligned to the lamp and lens. You need to find out what your local TV Repair shop would charge for re-tuning.
Have a great day!

When TV is first turned on, color looks like a reverse negative in a photo, picture is mostly black, white, and purply pink. TV picture then shuts off, power light indicator stays green, sound stays on....

we had a SONY Rear projection and we had that problem turned out to be a bad fan and caused the main control board to fail thus the same problem contact the company and see what the warranty covers

Image is green color............what is wrong with the tv?

It means that the blue and/or red picture tube (bulb) is not working properly. It could be the tube(s) or the circuits that drive the tube. My money is on the circuits.

My Sony KP-46WT500 screen shows the tv image in blue only for a few seconds, then it goes completely blank (as if it were off). Do I need to replace the bulbs?

It is rear projection TV that use 3 picture tubes of red-green-blue to show color picture on tv front screen.
Do you see standby red light blinking when TV shuts off after showing blue image for a while?
If red standby light is blinking, please count it how many times it blinks, there would be 3 seconds pause between blinks so count pause to pause and post it here to find out possible solution.

Have Sony KP-57ws500 rear projection i had the bulbs replaced 3 years ago now itseams as if everyting is out of focus.images outlined in green and red.

It sounds TV got convergence out ICs failure problem and causing 3D image or outlined picture.
There are 2 convergence out ICs mounted on D board in TV that need to be replaced.
Let me know if you need part number of ICs if you want to replace by yourself or call local Tv tech to fix it.

Toshiba 65H14 is all green... Tint doesn't change it..

As TVs age, the rate at which the CRTs begin to decline in terms of light output increases. If you go into the customer menu and adjust the color setting to zero. ( no color) observe the image. Is it good gray scale? Or, is the image still green tinted? If so, its definitely a problem with the CRTs( picture tubes) You may need to just re-adjust the screen settings for the CRTs or it may be more serious, a CRT may be bad. Replacing the CRT is a job for an expert and will cost $500-700.
