Question about Maytag SAV5910 Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Maytag SAV5910aww will not always drain. Fills and agitates fine but will go through entire cycle without draining. Will sometimes give end of cycle buzz sometimes not. If I am in the room and lift the lid up and down durring rinse cycle it will may start draining or may not. I have found spinning the timer back to begining of rinse cycle first helps (again, sometimes). Other times the timer will ''growl'' at me (not normal ticking sound). Timer issues perhaps? Motor? Take it out back and pack it full of TNT?

"I have found spinning the timer back to begining of rinse cycle first helps". The timer only rotates clockwise; counterclockwise rotation can destroy it.

SOURCE: whirlpool ultimate care II stops during cycle

THe most likely cause for this is either the lid switch or the timer itself sticking.

SOURCE: Washer fills and spins but does not agitate

Im sorry to say, it sounds like the transmission in the washer may have gone out, the unit it self sits at the bottem of the main agitator shaft under the the tub, you may be able to have this replaced, but shop around for the right price.

SOURCE: WILL NOT AGITATE

circut board mounted on timer assy is the problem, tip the console on its back to verify and put in agitate mode, will work in lay back position, then will not work in normal position. unplug board two times and should start working, it gets scrambled just like a computer, because its a computer. must be a relay on the board, this is what happened to me, and is still working 10 loads later, sounded like a motor.

SOURCE: won't agitate or spin

If you mean that when the unit should be agitating or spinning the motor is running, and you lift the lid causing the motor to stop running, it sounds like the coupler.

Washer wont agitate, pops breaker

Could be the gears/transmission for the agitate cycle are jammed, the motor then freezers, creates an overload and the breaker pops.

Hello I have a Maytag Washer Model A512 The machine goes through a regular cycle OK - However, it DOES drains the water out during the rinse cycle, but does NOT drain the water out during the spin...

The timer will always advance to the next program if the machine does not fully drain. There is ALWAYS a spin when draining the water out, there is only one pump and one motor. The waterlogged laundry maybe telling the timer that there is still water in the tub. Put the machine on "Spin" and cheat the lid switch into thinking that the lid is closed. Use a clothes peg or wide ended screwdriver and see if there really is a spin....

Kicking out water during wash cycle - spin instead of agitation

Hi,
Try these

  1. Check the drain hose, it should be at least as high as the top of the wash tub, about 38 inches.
  2. The drain hose must sit loosely in the house drain. Do not seal the air gap around the drain hose or a siphon will occur.
  3. Check the drain control lever
  4. Test the drain control coils
  5. Check the cam bar
pls rate my suggestion..

Washer will not spin

Sounds like it could either be an electrical problem, with the signal from the timer control board getting to the gear box,,, or it could be the gearbox itself.
