Gateway sx2110 windows 8 formated drive c. now it will not take cds or usb to reinstal. says no boot cds or bad disk. keeps revolving to checking pc and fixing

You might need to go in to BIOS setup and change the boot order to boot from CD/DVD before the hard disk. Same thing for booting from USB. If the boot order is set to the hard disk first and it does not find a bootable partition then that's the error you would get and it might not get past that. I think F2 will let you access that on a Gateway. This is a link to to the Gateway recovery page and it has lots of good info on it. http://gateway-us.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/34866/session/L3RpbWUvMTQ5MjA0NTQyMC9zaWQvZlVRWUtZclRhYkZqbl8zSEFEOUdoeFh2MkpUUERRNDhWRU9Od1g4SVNsTWV0QkVSYlBBcjloMmk1WDJWV1I5X2dWa0R1empXcUdsZGNYZTAyMVJKYjFnWUVfa2dyb00ybFFjRlU3VzhFVVluQkNfRzc2SFQ0QXRnJTIxJTIx

Why do i boot disk failer

You need to purchase a version of Windows which comes on a CD. Insert the CD in your DVD drive and reboot, and the system setup process will start.
If you had a version of Windows on your old hard drive, get the Key Number off a sticker on your computer and contact Microsoft Customer help; for a small amount of $ they may send you another disk.

CANT BOOT FOR REINSTALLATION OF XP, IT SEZ "NTLDR" IS MISSING, ALSO MENTIONS SOMETHING ABOUT THE HARD DRIVE NOT WORKING

If you have the OS disks try a repair first. Run the OS disk and choose the repair option rather than reformatting. That usually fixes ntldr issues.

Help me to install WinXP in a Gateway Laptop that came with SATA HDD

you have probably already fixed this but maybe others can find this a little helpful. i had to downgrade a gateway ma7 for one of my customers who had lost their recovery cd with vista on it. Their HD had gone bad.

The reason the XP installer says "no HD" is because the the drivers required by the gateways Sata controller (hd controller) are not preloaded on the xp install disc. The only way around this is to download the windows xp compatible sata drivers from gateways website and then slipstream them into a custon windows xp install cd. its actually not as difficult as it sounds. just download the sata driver, a slipstreaming program called nlite.

1 download and install nlite
2 put in your xp install cd, and run nlite, when nlite asks, browse to the i386 folder (your installation files)
3 you will have lots of options to choose from, but for this purpose, choose "add drivers" and select the location of the gateway drivers (c:\cabs\something) i think.
4 finish and burn the cd. then use it to install windows xp.

this little guide isnt step by step, but with a little trial and error you should get by

Hi friend,
so you want to know how to partition the hard disk. there are many software are available to partition the hard disk. you have the windows operating system cd. there you can partition your hard disk.now i tell you the step by step method to partition the hard disk with windows operating system cd installation.

  1. insert the cd into the cd drive.
  2. press the F8 key while the computer before the beep sound comes.
  3. choose boot device to boot first, now choose the cd drive to first to boot.
  4. it enters into the setup of the windows.
  5. after entering into the setup it ask you to copy the windows directory into which drive.
  6. after that option you can select the drive and format the hard disk partition the what type drive you want and how much space you want in the selected drive.
ask me if you cant do it and inform to fixya.com

bye friend.

Windows Setup cant find hard disk ?????????????

Does the BIOS on your system see the drive and show it's model information? Is this the only drive on the system? If the answer is yes for both, then you can download free utilities from the web to wipe the drive clean. This will result in the loss of all existing data on your drive. You can search for "Wipe Disk" and will get several hits for free software. Once you have cleaned the drive, try instlling XP. If the BIOS does not see your drive, the XP can't see it. You may want to try other SATA ports on your motherboard, or try changing the IDE configuration in the BIOS. Let me know if this works.
