Question about ASUS Televison & Video

1 Answer

PLEASE HELP!! I have a Polaroid 4011 TLXB. In normal use the red LED remains on in "standby," when powered on the red LED becomes blue. Suddenly, (literally, overnight) the TV stopped responding to power-ons. Whether I use the Polaroid remote, a universal, or the power button on the set the red light remains on and no picture, no sound, nothing. Tried using a different outlet and unplugging then plugging back in...nothing Based on this article (http://www.fixya.com/support/r741402-polaroid_flm_373b_lcd_tv_black_screen) I looked for similarly bad capacitors, but found none that were bulging as described. The worst part is that this set should be under Polaroid's 1 year warrantee, but they are refusing to honor the warrantee because I bought it from Circuit City. Nothing in the warrantee should let them back out for this reason, but apparently they do what they want.

I could not find any PO..not quite sure what i'm looking for. Sorry, I'll need some hand holding on anything very technical

I was afraid you were going to say that... I'm planning to fight Polaroid to get them to honor my warrantee, so I guess I'll just spend the $250 and have them do the "out of warrantee" service (repair center quoted me $600 for repair).

    thanks

Look on the power supply for a plug that has an id of voltages, you'll see one that says PO, that means power on, to kick the power supply up. Put you DVM on that pin and press the power button and watch the meter, you should have high activity, if it comes up to lets say 3.4 volts and falls off then the main board needs replaced. Let me know how you do!

You must have a digital volt meter. You should see a plug with red leads on the power supply going to a long board, that is the dc inverter.
There should be another set (not red)going to the main board. That's the plug that will have 5 volts for standby and the po will be on there also. Check for 5volts on one of those leads. The only way you can check for the high on the po line is to leave the meter on each lead (seperately) and press the power button and see if that lead developes a voltage(.6-1.5 dc). If it does then the power supply is bad, if not then the main board is defective. If you haven't worked on a television like this, I would rather see you take it in to a repair center. If your trying to save money, your going to spend about $150.00 for the main board anyway.

Polaroid TV screen will not always come on.

Are you talking monitor rather than tv? I have an LG 22 inch monitor and the on off button is on the bottom, If I don't hit it right or just tap it, it won't turn off but flashes. Where do you have it plugged in? Is it with some other electronics, or right to the wall outlet? I'm really at a loss as to what your problem really is. Are you using the remote? One quick fix might be the battery's in the remote. If they don't have enough power, short or no signal will be sent to tv or not being able to decipher it.

I have a polaroid 4011-tlxb tv and when i turn it on the blue light comes on but no picture i have to keep turning it on and off untill i get a picture

It may have dying 24vdc power supply due to bad caps, check that first, it may cause more damage if you keep turning on and off.

We were going to use our 4011-TLXB for a video conference and when we hooked up the computer the TV went blank. Now all I get is the red light. I know now that this a common problem. My question is which...

Does it work in TV mode?
It can be either the power supply is not putting out all the needed voltages, right now you only have the 5vdc standby voltage (because the RED lifght is on) or the backlight inverter board is bad, it is the board that drives the CCF lamps which is the light source for the screen, it may be bad or not getting the 24vdc from the power supply. worst case will be the main board that is not sending signals to turn on the power supply and the backlight inverter board.
