Macbook was manually shut down during an update

My nephew shut down my friend's macbook during an update today...now when i try to restart it it stops at a screen that tells me i need to restart the computer. but i can't get it to go further than this. behind this it's also saying a whole bunch of gibberish and Mac OS Version: Not yet set and stuff about kernel version.....HELP!

i did cmd v and yeah, it showed a whole bunch of gibberish and then said what i wrote above. also tried to insert an OS disk and hit C, however, it's rejecting the re-install (it was my disk, not hers...they're both leopard versions of OS X, but apparently still not compatible. my mac is the macbook made of aluminum, hers is the white plastic one...i didn't think it'd matter...but i guess something else is different too. will try to find a store tomorrow to get help from.

While starting, hit cmd v. this will put it into verbose mode and show the background processes and where it stops, there will be your problem. Also try inserting an OS disk and hitting c during startup chime and use the disk utility to fix the permissions.

The disks for apple are very specific. You will need the apple disk made for the white macbook. One thing that you can do with your disk tho is to access the disk utility. Did you attempt to fix the permissions?

I just updated to Sierra on my Mac. Now Farm Town won't load, and my flash is up to date.

My guess is maybe during the "upgrade" to Sierra the game may not have properly transitioned over. I would simply uninstall the game, restart the mac, re-download the game and reinstall it.

Macbook Air No Sound

Sounds like one of the cables inside is not connected correctly or something along those lines so I would get apple to get it repaired ( which may cost a fair amount )

MacBook Software Updater - continually prompts to install an update

You're probably not actually flashing the firmware, but downloading the utility to do so. Follow these steps:
1. Quit all other open applications. Open the MacBook Pro EFI Firmware update which is in your Utilities directory

2. Click Shut Down in the MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update window and wait for your computer to shut down.

3. Press and hold the power button on your MacBook Pro until the power indicator light flashes repeatedly, then release the power button to begin the update.

A status bar indicates the progress of the update.

Important: Do not interrupt the update.

Your computer restarts automatically when the update is completed and opens the MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update.

4. Click OK, if the firmware is now up-to-date.
