Try and open MS Word and import a picture into a document via scan, follow the prompts in Word and it should work fine. If you don,t have MS Word you can download a completely compatible application at Open Office.org. It also has the same functionality is free and allows you to save documents as .doc, .xls, etc. Sometimes a scanner requires additional software or drivers in addition to functioning as a printer. I have found scanning internal to an application a workaround or test for the scanner. If this works I would review the installation or contact the manufacturer or website. Or post and we can give it another try.

Scan document error

This is typically a software issue and has nothing to do with the scanner itself. Try these steps out and see if it helps.
  • At the Control Panel go to "Find and Fix Problems" under System and Security
  • Next, under Programs select "Run Programs made for previous versions of Windows"
  • A box will appear (Program Compatibility). Press the "Next." It will begin to detect programs that may have compatibility problems with windows.
  • Scroll down and select your scanning software, then select "Next"
  • Select "Fix Using Recommended Settings". It will next prompt you to test their recommended setting by starting the program. Select "start the Program"
  • If the test works, it will ask you to save the new settings.

Epson cs5500 scanner software wont work

try downloading the latest drivers from epsons website. if coping is working and printing is working, it sounds like a software problem. Its possible there is a bug in the scanner part of the drivers.

Epson DX6000 scanner problem

If it's a new printer, try changing the USB printer cable. Sometimes one of the wires just gives out and doesn't communicate properly between the printer and your PC. Hope this helps.

Epson 3490 Scanner not communicating properly with PC

The new PC was Vista and the CD that came with the scanner completed loading a driver without complaint. However, a new driver was needed for Vista. After downloading the new driver from Epson, uninstalling the old driver and installing the new driver, it worked.
