It's been this way for a while now. I open My Computer, and my DVD drive does not exist, even if I put a CD in there to play or install a program. I want to upgrade to the release candidate... but I can't because I can't burn the file to a DVD.
My DVD drive: Optiarc DVD RW AD-7563A ATA
OS: Windows 7 Beta, 64-bit
I've tried:
- enabling & disabling
- uninstalling then restarting, then praying that it will magically reinstall itself
- Last Known Good Configuration
Obviously I'm not an expert so I appreciate any any help..... Also, does anyone know where I can get the driver? That would solve my problems, but I can't find it anywhere.

Do this to be sure that your dvd drive is still being recognized by your laptop. Turn on your laptop and go into your BIOS. Once your in there look to see if its listed in there. If it is then you know for sure that the laptop is recognizing it properly and that its a windows 7 issue. If the dvd is not recognized in the BIOS then what you need to do is with the power off. Take out the dvd drive completely and reseat it back into its slot. Then turn the laptop on, go back into the BIOS and see if its recognized in the BIOS now. If its still not recognized in the BIOS then that means the dvd drive is bad and would need to be replaced. As far as drivers are concerned and that you verified that the dvd drive is recongized in the BIOS, you may not be able to get drivers because windows 7 is not out for the public yet and drivers may not be available, you can always check the manufacuter of your dvd drive and go to there website to get drivers but since windows 7 is not out yet to the public your chances of getting a driver for it are slim.

It is listed in the BIOS. What next?
I originally had Vista, but decided to try out the Beta because I didn't like Vista at all. Most drivers for Vista work with the Beta version, I've just had issues with drivers disappearing - they usually show up after I do the aforementioned, but my DVD drive has not. :(
The BIOS recognizes my DVD drive.
