How do I get my color back and closed caption off my TV. I have my Phillips Magnavox TV serial number TS2544c122/ The remote to controled with our dishnet one. I need to get my color back and closed

Sounds like you might have switched display from pal to NTSC or vice versa.this is usually the first thing that causes color to drop out.if not you will need to go through menu settings to check if you have rgb or similar color controls that are not set correctly.i assume you have already checked the saturation has not been turned down.sometimes the remote buttons can stick down or be under a book or cushion which will alter tv controls without your input.

I cant get my did/vcr combo to play on my Emerson TV. I all color coded cables attached. Help!

Not enough information for a good reply. Are you sure your tv is set to the correct mode or channel for vcr? Make sure both devices are on, your dvd/vcr playing if you can, and see if the tv on channel 3, channel 4 or channel 91 show that dvd/tape. Otherwise, try checking your remote control, MENU button and look for device options, or INPUT options, on the main menu.

I have a mitsubishi vs 45609 with what appears to be a convergence problem. Using the menu convergence settings everything is correct. So it appears that the color guns are out of allignment but I'm not...

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both. Repair kits with instructions are also avail from

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

RCA TV lost Color

It sounds like your grandson found the "monochrome" setting in the menu on your remote. It may be in the "picture settings", "set-up" or "advanced" setting.

Why is the color red is gone

this is because of the color control circuit for the red , its most likely an IC that controls red has failed or even a bad resistor , capacitor , ect .. in that circuit will need replacing

Bad color .

Turn the set on without an antenna, so there is only snow on the screen. Measure the 3 cathode voltages at the CRT, red green and blue. If the 3 voltages are about the same, around 175 volts, then the CRT is bad (purple picture means bad green gun). If the red and blue are around 175 and the green is over 200 volts, then there is a chassis problem, usually the video output transistor itself has gone bad or come loose.
