Question about Compaq Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a laptop and some how my phillips cdrw/dvd cdd5263 driver has been deleted. My computer acts as though there is no cd drive anymore. I cannot connect it to the internet for the driver scans that I have seen because I cannot install the software for my aircard because it doesn't recognize the disk. Is there a way to download the driver onto a disk from another computer that I have and transfer it over?

First of all, there is no "driver" per se for the CDRW. If you computer cannot see it, it is because the unit is faulty. If it were not faulty, windows would be able to see it and install it's own drivers for it. The drive will have to be replaced.

My laptop Dell Inspiron 1200 does not recognise my phillips cdrw dvd cdd5263 drive

Follow the following instructions:

1.) Start Menu
2.) Right-click My Computer and click on properties.
3.) At the tabs at the top, go to hardware.
4.) Click on device manager.

Once the window opens any device inside or connected to the computer will be under the respective groups. Anything unknown to the computer will have a little exclamation mark next to the icon. On most computers, if there are any the groups will already be expanded.

Once you've found the dvd drive that isn't recognised, update the driver by right clicking on the device -> update driver.

You do have to be connected to the internet but it sometimes searches the computer for the right driver. Hope this helped

if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem

Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

Hi,

Follow the steps given below

Connect the External CDRW to the PC and you should be able to find the green light glowing and CDRW should make some noise like spinning.

Press the Eject button the CDRW and It should open. Put in the Software disk that you have received from your PC manufacturer and it should display the contents on the PC Screen

If not, Click on START button - Click on My Computer - You should find the CDRW displayed in Drives Location.

Double click on it and it should display the CD Contents.

This indicated the CDRW is working.

I need donwload philips cdrw dvd cdd5263 driver

Windows XP automatically contains device-drivers for all CD/DVD-readers.
It also contains software (from ROXIO) to enable the writing to CD-writable disks.
If you have movie on a DVD-disk, then look at software like 'PowerDVD' to decode and play the movie.

I have deleted the drivers for my phillips cdrw/dvd cdd5263

Hello sbrown20,

Do whats suggested at this article
http://support.microsoft.com/default...#91;LN];314060

Anyway, as Mark7171 said, there are no drivers for optical drives and Windows has its generic driver for it, which is good enough.

I need a DRIVER for my PHILLIPS CDRW800

You should'nt need a driver if it's an internal ide drive, they use Windows. I've had computers for years and never needed a CDRW driver. You may need some burning software though.
