There's always a computer expert in the family that will make things worse.

By pressing the F11 key, it may bring your computer into a mode that will allow you to reset it back to factory defaults. Yes, this will get rid of the worm. Then you run windows updates, etc. However, in doing so, you will lose everything on your computer. And, when you connect it to the internet to get the updates, you can pick up a virus again.

You need to update your antivirus, boot into safe mode and run a full or thorough scan with your antivirus. Also, download superantispyware, update it and run a full, thorough scan with it as well, removing whatever it suggests you remove.

What this will do is reset your computer back to factory defaults like you had just got it out of the box. This would fix the problem for sure. Of course you could also go here as well and download the win32.brontok removal tool. http://www.bitdefender.com/VIRUS-157247-en--Win32.Brontok.A@mm.html This program will remove any instance of the worm on your computer and get rid of it. This way you won't have to restore your computer back to factory defaults.

Hi, my name is Claudio. Recently I was writing 35kb of short story. When I tried to open the wordPad with my story, I could not find!.Looks ,disapeared. How can I find the file? Also, from time to time...

if you saved your story and remember [part of] the file name, you can use windows search (from start button) to see if it is still on your hard drive.

if you saved it to the default directory, it might be in your "my documents" folder

Net-worm.win32.kido.ih virus free removal required

Have you tried AVG antivirus webpage? They have a free version of their software, 100% usable at :

http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?part=dl-10044820&subj=dl&tag=button&cdlPid=11014801

Per their website, there is the following info on your worm:
The first version of this virus which is recognized by AVG as Downadup (alternativelly I-Worm.Generic) has been detected at the end of November / begining of December, 2008. Currently there are over 300 unique versions of this virus. AVG detects and protects against all known variants of the worm.
Hope it takes care of it. If not let me know and I'll help you with fixing it so AVG does its job.

Worm.win32.autorun.blw virus appear in my system i already use kesper sky, but not solved. please advise a solution. thanx

When the executable is run on the victim's machine, the worm copies itself to the following locations:
  • %Application Data%\remove.exe (Copy of itself)
  • %Application Data%\autorun.inf
Where %Application Data% = c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data
Autorun.inf has following command
Exp: [autorun]
shellExecute=remove.exe
The worm adds a Run entry in registry so that it executes itself at every startup:
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
    "(Default)" = "%Application Data%\remove.exe"
Symptoms -
  • Presence of above mentioned files.
  • Presence of registry entries mentioned above.
Method of Infection Method of Infection - This worm spreads by using autorun.inf on shared drives and removable devices.
Removal - A combination of the latest DATs and the Engine will be able to detect and remove this threat. AVERT recommends users not to trust seemingly familiar or safe file icons, particularly when received via P2P clients, IRC, email or other media where users can share files.

Ipod infected with virus - Win32/Brontok.AQ worm

Does it connect to the PC?

If so, you can format it thru My Computer>Device Name (IPOD)>Right Click and select FORMAT.

This will erase everything on the device and you can start over.
