Most likely you need a new Lamp. This is a common symptom. I believe it is a XL2200 Lamp.

While holding down the reset button on the remote Press the power button on the tv (The tv will turn itself off the back on) Now release the reset button
My KDF 60XS955 turned on and off like the above complaints. I had an appointment with a Sony Repair specialist but thought that since my bulb was getting really old and taking too long to warm up, I would change it before he came and tried to sell me one at retail cost. I then noticed that the set didn't turn off any more. I ran it that way for a week and then decided to put the old bulb back in and see what happened. Within 1/2 hour it had turned off twice so I changed it back and said that fixed it. I cancelled the sony tech and saved some money. I hope this works for some of you also.
the tv will try to reboot a few times. just let i try and eventually it will start blinking red. if you could count the red blinks then i can further assist you.
