Need new handle on door

The door handle can easily be replaced on most microwave ovens by removing the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. The following link explains how to access and replace the door handle:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3696942-microwave_oven_door_handle_replacement

The average cost for a replacement handle usually averages about $20 - $40. Replacements may be purchased at the websites listed in the link I provided. If the model number you have this question listed under is correct, the part number for a replacement handle is 46-114897-3.

If you have any questions, please post back with your complete model number (if different than the one listed) and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Folks, I bought Sharp microwave m/n R-209KK-W s/n 182123 manufacture date April 2008 on Aug01,08. Oven works good, but there is no light on the clock which makes it hard to see, is there a way to turn...

There is no separate control for the backlight. It will have to be repaired or replaced.

Since it's less than one year old, it would be fully covered under warranty.

Since it's less than 30 days, I would strongly suggest trying to return it to the dealer so you don't get stuck with a bad unit.

If they won't take it back, you need to contact the manufacturer to get it fixed free.

You can contact Sharp at 1-800-BE-SHARP (1-800-237-4277) or visit them online.

I have a sharp r1514 microwave. When you go to warm up something it makes the noise but doesnt heat and it doesnt say cook. the start button doesnt do anything we need to press the door in all the way in...

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch (the bottom one in this case), a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door hooks latch when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. Other times, it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

We have the service manual for the R-1500 series and we have uploaded it to our site here: http://www.microwavedisplay.com/r1500_r1501_r1505_r1506_sm.pdf

If you think the problem is on the control panel, we repair these nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in most cases.
