Put a cup upright in your top rack. see if the water is filling it up give it about 2 minutes. If no water is getting up there let me know.

My lg dishwasher is leaving food particles on glasses and things on the top rack?

Check for blockage of the spray arm holes. If they are clear, replace the VIRO motor. It is a small motor next to the main wash motor, which turns a cam, directing water to the bottom, then the top spray arms. (usually, changes position every 2 minutes or so) You will need to remove the dishwasher from the cabinet to replace the VIRO motor.

your spray arms are blocked with food debris and not turning to check this put appliance on for a few mins and check position of spray arms i bet the top one isnt moving, the very end holes are particulary important as they drive the arms round under water pressure.

There is so much debris left on the dishes after the dishwasher has run, it's almost not worth running it. The debris is mostly small hard bits on the inside of glasses from the top shelf. Is this a...

this is a maintenance problem.. if the bits look like grains of sand it is actually food particles that breaks down during the cycle spraying the cups and glasses (usually the top shelf that gets hit worst). solution is to run a dishwasher cleaner through the system on a hot wash. To remove and wash bottom filters and spray arm jets. Lastly when loading the DW make sure excess food are scraped/rinsed off ...you will get better results. Thanks

The dishes/glasses on the top shelf are not getting clean

Here is a link to a procedure I put together to clean out your pump. A plugged up sump is the most common reason for poor washing on the upper rack.

Let me know if this helps.

In my experience, you probably have a clog in the spray arm/arms for the top rack. Take the arm(s) out and see if the holes in them are clogged. Rice, plastic wrappers, and glass from dishes that broke in there are the most common culprits I've seen.

My dishwasher is not washing dishes on the top rack...

HI,

The top rack is not cleaning because of low water pressure from the wash motor to the upper spray arm.
Assuming the top spray arms are clear of debris, remove the lower spray arm to access the wash motor. Remove the 4 torx screws and the filter (accumulator assembly). Remove the torx screw and the inlet protector that covers the chopper assembly. Make sure the chopper is not broken (broken chopper will fill with debris and block water flow). While holding the chopper blade, reach inside the "D" shaped opening on top of the motor and spin the wheel/motor by hand in each direction to make sure either the chopper gear or the motor gear that drives the chopper is not broken. Replace the chopper if necessary . If the motor gear is broken, replace the sump and motor assembly . Remove any debris from the sump area in the process.
You don't have to shut the power off to the dishwasher because the door will be open, but if you feel more comfortable, do so.

thanks,

Kenmore Dishwasher leaving SAND behind

1. Remove the top rack and lower rack.
2. Remove the lower spray arm by holding the top of the center hub and rotating spray arm counter clockwise.
3. Remove water tube feed from the back wall of the dishwasher by unclipping at top and back. Pull towards you and lift tab at the bottom on the big tube to remove the plastic clip from main water feed.
4. Remove the main water tube by turning quarter turn clockwise, then lift off. Keep the center hub from falling out so you don't lose the plastic washer.
5. Using a star tip screw driver; remove the four screws and lift off the filter cap assembly. The assembly consists of the screen filter and the food trap grate (The outer edges look gear like).
6. Look down inside this area and clean out anything foreign. usually there will be seeds, paper, and other gook. I used tweezers, toothpicks, and needlenose pliers. I remove from my dishwaser quite a bit of paper, two wooden match sticks, lots of undissolved soap etc.
7. When you have removed as much as you can, put everything back together in the order you removed it.
8. When you run the next cycle, you should immediatly hear more noise to indicate that you have cleared the pathway that allows water to flow at its intended pressure.
