I checked the wires. When disconnected the subwoofer roaring quit. Tried reconnecting but did not solve the problem. Not techy so not sure what do do. I cannot seem to find a way to open it without tearing it apart. Better to replace whole system or replace or fix sub woofer?

SOURCE: Roaring on start up
First ensure it is not a disturbance from TV or any nearby device (eg. power adapters).
Generally , if the noise raise up in volume anthen goes it is a faulty amp.
If the problem goes as you whack (gently) or move the unit then it is a bad contact or connector inside.
If you just bought the item I would replace it, even if problem disappears by moving the device or whacking it, it means the machine has a fault that can come back in time.
If product is not brand new, but covered with guaranty take in for repairs.

HI,the rca system should have a sub pre out socket, plug a phono cable into this then to input on your sub and set volume to half way, also make sure the sub is set to on in the setup menu on the system.
Hope this helps.
