Question about LG Washing Machines

1 Answer

Generic problem for all LG Washing Machines

I bought the LG about 3 years ago and had the same banging problem. After getting a real run around I made them replace the machine.  No easy task.
Last week the banging started again. I dread the whole process of getting this repair as the original service guy was a kittle clueless.
Also, during the this time there have been several failures while washing when a code would flash and shut the machine down.  To resolve this I would unplug the machine and it would reset without having to have service.
I would never buy an LG washing machine. It really is a heap of ****.

Having checked around on the WWW it seems that the banging problem of LG front load washing machines is widely know = US, Philippines. the UK.

This is NOT a problem of missing parts - BUT a real problem that LG obviously knows about -

    It's called BAD DESIGN and

    BAD after sale NON service.

LG should come up to the plate and accept the responsibility of a BAD product and make good in free repair or replacement.

NEVER will I purchase any LG products

Load pop when running ,shuts down, smoke from back, burning electrical

You have a tub "Balance" bearing that is Shot! Goner! Dead! And your Tub may be a goner too! Depending on the extent of damage, you said you saw SMOKE! I never seen smoke from a washer unless someone throws a Concrete Block Stone in one on You Tube! ON PURPOSE! You have to weigh the age of machine vs the price of a new/USED one. If your machine is over 7 years old. Get a new One! Not a LG for goodness sake. Get a Whirlpool or a Maytag. I just bought a used one (Whirlpool) for $150. Still works 2 years later right next to the Dead $1600 LG I bought 6 years ago! The man I bought it from is in Rosamond, Ca. right by Edwards AFB. He has a garage full of them and guarentees his machines. There are a lot of people that do this. New is Not always the best!

Lg fuzzy logic

Could be problems with the waste pump which could be at the bottom of the machine behind a flap. The fact that if you give the machine a thump and it starts working, could indicate it has a loose wire which can be extremely dangerous as it could short out to the washing machine casing. Or the motor has simply got dirt around the comm. (internals on the motor). If you have been spinning unevenly balanced clothes and the machine has had a bit of a jump around, then it is likely to be a wire. I have repaired washing machines which have had this very problem where the drum has been bang bang bang in spin mode and actually rubbed right through to bare wire on badly placed wires which were not harnessed out of dangers way. Alway disconnect from mains first before looking....electricity kills, especially I the presence of water. Good luck

When spinning the bowl seems to go off balance and bangs against the sides. The machine sits level and it does it even if it the bowl is empty.

I have just bought an LG washing machine it did this once when I had a heavy duna cover in, and I opened lid and adjusted the load and it hasnt done it again. Now when I load the machine and have a big load I position them evenly around. I hope this helps you!

Lg washer/ frontloader

Take a hand towel soaked in vinegar, then run it around the rubber seal around the front of the door, making sure you get all the way under. Then run a load of whites with javex or vinegar. Always leave the door ajar after you are done washing, or that mildew smell will re-appear.

I have exactly the same problem!

Try using the tub clean cycle and use a good dose of bleach or vinegear. Here is how to run the tub clean cycle.

To start the TUB CLEAN cycle:
1. Remove any clothing or items from the washer and close the door.
2. Open the dispenser drawer and add liquid chlorine bleach to the bleach compartment.
NOTE: Do not add any detergent to the detergent compartments. Excessive suds may be produced and leak
from the washer.
3. Close the dispenser drawer slowly.
4. Power On and then press the Extra Rinse button for 3 seconds. (Prewash option will be selected.)
5. Press the Start/Pause button to start.
6. After the cycle is complete, leave the door open to dry around the washer door opening, door seal and
door glass.
