Fault code 32

Woke up and it's cold. looked at the thermostat, its set at 52, the reading is as low as it gets, 40 something.checked furnace and found the code 32 flashing,(3 yellow and 2 green) what to do. its like 40 below zero outside. I think its a low pressure fault, but don't know what that means/entails.

SOURCE: Carrier Furnace wouldn't light, fan was running all the time.

Most furnaces have a photo cell if it gets dirty the photo cell does not see a flame so it trips the reset button on flame failure.

SOURCE: how do i operate thermostat and furnace

if your furnace is on 24 hours straight, before it heats up your home, then either your cold weather and indoor temps are extreme, or your unit is grossly undersized. if however your furnace cycles on and off when the temp is still way colder than you have set it you have either a bad stat that thinks its hotter than it is, or a bad furnace problem and even though the furnace is getting a signal from the stat to heat it is failing to do so. you'll have to watch and think this through to isolate the problem. if you set the furnace to max heat and it runs and heats the house reasonably quick then its probably going to be a bad stat. if you set it to max heat and it shuts off way before it gets to setpoint then the problem is in the furnace. be sure filters are clean, blower wheel is clean , returns are no obstructed, etc. if you by chance have an old mercury bulb stat they had a thing in them called a heat anticipator which basically worked like this. a dial with a little pointer determined how soon it would be till the furnaced reached the desired temp and anticipated how soon to shut off the burners in anticipation of the cool down period so you dont overshoot the desired temp. if these are bad or moved to different setting they can short cycle the furnace on of on off etc. or shut down the burner almost as soon as it lights. setting is usually at .4 to .6 on most, but really a digital stat is only way to go. by the way check to be sure you don't have a hot air supply grill blowing directly on the stat or it will shut off as soon as stat gets hot and rest of house will be cold. usual location is 5 feet off floor directly over the main return air grill or under it as the case may be. good luck

I had the same problem, I had to remove the lower black rubber stopper right next to the exaust fan and hook up a drain to the unit, as soon as the water drained out the furnace fired right up.

check the pressue switch and make sure that nothing is in the fan that would cause it to not draw. I have seen water inside of them at times due to the high efficentcy of the units. let me know if this does not solve it please.

Are there 2 coolant temp sensors on a 1996 Buick Century 3.1?

No , their arn't two coolant temp. sensors . One near the thermostat housing . The Temp sensor is a input to the PCM / ECM . The PCM / ECM needs the temp info for fuel calculations . The temp gauge on the instrument cluster gets this info over class 2 serial data network Hooking up a factory or professional scan tool that can read sensor data is the easy way to diagnose ,not guessing . Looking at factory service info. an wiring diagrams too see what is what is another way . You have no clue ,take it to a qualified repair shop.

The engine coolant temperature sensor is a thermistor (a resistor which changes value based on temperature) mounted in the engine coolant stream. Low coolant temperature produces a high resistance (100,000 ohms at -40°C/-40°F) while high temperature causes low resistance (70 ohms at 130°C/266°F).
The PCM supplies a 5 volt signal to the engine coolant temperature sensor through a resistor in the PCM and measures the voltage. The voltage will be high when the engine is cold, and low when the engine is hot. By measuring the voltage, the PCM calculates the engine coolant temperature. Engine coolant temperature affects most systems the PCM controls.
The scan tool displays engine coolant temperature in degrees. After engine startup, the temperature should rise steadily to about 90°C (194°F) then stabilize when thermostat opens. If the engine has not been run for several hours (overnight), the engine coolant temperature and intake air temperature displays should be close to each other. A hard fault in the engine coolant sensor circuit should set DTC P0117 or DTC P0118; an intermittent fault should set a DTC P1114 or P1115. The DTC Diagnostic Aids also contains a chart to check for sensor resistance values relative to temperature.
The ECT sensor also contains another circuit which is used to operate the engine coolant temperature gauge located in the instrument panel.

Fridge dosen't seem to click off as much when it gets to temperature like it used to do, what can I do?

Try verifying the temperature range with a thermometer. For most fridge's you should see something like a low of 32 and a high of 40. Those would represent the turn off/turn on points for the compressor - that part that actually makes the fridge cold.

If it's swinging much outside those rages, the thermostat in your fridge is suspect. For most fridge's the thermostat is the know you turn to adjust the temperature. It usually has an attached wire/temperature probe that runs down behind a panel in the fridge and senses the temperature so the thermostat can command the compressor to turn on or off.

If it seems like the compressor might be at fault check with the manufacturer's website and you might find a parts diagram and identify the part. Then you can either call a repair technician or try replacing it yourself. You can purchase replacement appliance parts at many places on the Internet such as this site: Search Over 2 1 Million Appliance Parts

The air conditioner will work for a while but then shut down by itself.

Due to the many different questions I see about Air Conditioning, I am including this overview to help us better understand each other for trouble shooting. A basic air conditioning system has a Thermostat, Air Handler or Furnace Fan and a Condensing unit. In a split system, the condensing unit (Condenser) is separate from the furnace and usually in the back yard. When working properly, it blows hot air. It connects to the cooling part of the system by 2 copper lines. One large line and 1 small line. The part that cools the house is the "Evaporator" and is usually on top of the furnace inside the square metal box (Plenum). When the Air Conditioner is running, the large copper line should be cold and the smaller line should be warm. Common signs of low refrigerant are that both lines are the same temperature and/or frost or ice has built up on the large line at the condenser. The thermostat will normally display room temperature on till it is touched to change the setting. It could have a "Span" setting as well as times and temperatures. The operating "span" of MOST residential thermostats is 40 to 90 degrees. That means you can set it as low as 40 degrees and no higher than 90 degrees. It probably has a fan switch also. When in the "ON" position, the fan will run constantly, 24 / 7, but the condenser will still cycle on and off as needed to keep the house at set point. If you have a suggestion to include in this paragraph, please let me know.

Please read the above paragraph and see if we can narrow the possibilities. How long does it stay off? Does it restart by itself? Does it blow any cold air while running? Thank you. Roger

Furnace blows warm air for less than a minute...not enough to get even close to temperature thermostat is set to, and then shuts off

If the furnace is lighting and the fan is coming on, but then goes out before the thermostat is satisfied, you definitely have a problem with a safety interlock on your furnace. It could be as simple as the flame sensor not being inside the flame when the main manifold is lit and burning. Do you have a control board with a blinking led or display that shoes a code? Usually on the back of the cover to the electrical section of the furnace is a schematic with the fault codes. Read/interpret the fault code and address the problem identified by the fault code. It could also be a thermostat problem or a thermostat with low batteries if it has batteries. Without more information, this is the best I can do. Hope this helps! Jim

Humidifier won't turn on with furnace fan set to Auto.

There is a devise called a current sensing relay (a little black box that hangs on a blower motor wire that senses current from that wire) If you have such a devise it should hang from the white (common) wire. Loop the wire through twice.
