I am not sure if you have been able to scan yet but I just did this on mine and it worked fine. Go to the icon HP solution center-should be on your desktop; click on scan picture, (Put picture on glass first in printer and close cover) click picture to file, click scan; click on base name and type the name for you picture then save location click browse and choose file to save to and then click ok. it will show you a copy of the image then click on finish. The picture will show up at the bottom of your file.

I've lost my set up cd and although the printer and copyer work I cannot scan a document onto the computer.

Scanning a document to your computer may require the Lexmark OCR scan software which is only available in the installation disk. Try to contact Lexmark technical support to request for the installation disk. Thank you for choosing Lexmark.

My printer is all plugged in and hooked up but i can't figure out how to scan things onto my computer...

Many printers do not have the chip needed to scan, and you will need disk software to scan documents. Just put in the disk and follow menu. The other solution is to call the printer company. Chances are you own an HP, and they are very good about giving advice and step by step phone service on new devices. HP has a 24 hour help line and you can get the number using most search engines over the internet.

I've installed the AL-1540CS but I'm having trouble figuring out how to scan documents and load them onto the computer with the Parallel interface. Can you help me out?

Scanning is not possible thru the parallel port. You must use the USB1.1 port in order to use the scanning feature.
The parallel port is only used for printing.
If you hook up the machine with a USB cable you can print and scan using USB. This includes color scanning.
Thank You for using Fixya.

I don't know how to use a scanner....LOL I mean, I have one, but I have never figured out how to actually "scan" anything in...LOL

PLace the document to scan facing down onto the canning glass. Open the scanning application installed on your computer (If you dont have the apploication, install it with the CD that you would have recieved with the product). Then follow the instructions and then save the scanned document as desired.

How do I scan a document into my computer with an EPSON printer?

You need to have OCR (Optical character recognition) software on the computer. There are several free programs avaliable. Do a google search for OCR. That will give you a location on your computer to send you document to.

HP DESKJET F380 ALL IN ONE

  1. turn on your all-in-one printer and computer. Check the connections between the two machines.
  2. Step 2 Lift the printer’s document lid. Examine the scanning surface and the underside of the lid for dust and fingerprints.
  3. Step 3 Put the document you wish to scan face-down on the glass. Use the alignment markers to help you square up the object. These are usually found on the left-hand edge of the scanning area.
  4. Step 4 Close the printer’s document lid slowly so the document does not shift position.
  5. Step 5 Select a scan resolution. The higher the dpi (dots per inch) count, the sharper and more detailed the image.
  6. Step 6 Push the scan button. You may have to do this on the printer itself or on your computer.
  7. Step 7 Check the preview of your scan on your computer. Depending on your all-in-one printer and software, you may have to prompt your computer to display the preview for you.
  8. Step 8 Edit the image as it appears on your computer if you want to make changes. Your scanning software might let you enlarge, resize or otherwise manipulate the final product.
  9. Step 9 Accept the scan and save. Return the original document to a safe location.

Unable to scan a doucument onto my computer

Assuming you HAVE installed the software, and you're running Windows XP, I've seen this problem and the solution is on the HP Web Site here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&custom_solutionid=rb20020000&docname=c01545804

Obviously you'll have to paste the link all back together in your browser, there are no blanks in it. Sorry for the inconvenience. Their description is bad for XP firewall, ignore the UDP 427 Inbound. HP doesn't know they are all bidirectional anyway :)
