You can check the protection diode fitted across the highvoltage capacitor near to the Highvoltage transformer. If it is shorted there is a chance to blow off the fuse. There is no chance for the monitor switch. Any way you can check the monitor switch which is located near to the control panel( Near the door switch)

Why does my Sharp Carousel convection microwave keep blowing fuses ?

I am wondering which fuse is blowing?
There are at least two fuses fitted internally and in the UK at least another fitted in the plug of the supply lead.

It isn't wise for an unqualified person to replace the internal fuses of a microwave even if it is switched off as there is a capacitor inside that is capable of storing a dangerous amount of energy.

The reasons why a fuse blows is either because there is a poor connection close by that is generating a lot of heat or the the fuse rating is incorrect or of the wrong type (quick-blow instead of slow-blow) or the appliance is consuming more current than it should be.

Microwave ovens have a fairly simple working principle and there aren't many things to go wrong. When things do start to go wrong or components become tired it is usually translated into a loss of efficiency that can be measured by how long it takes to boil a measured quantity of water, for instance.
Periodically timing a measured quantity of water to boiling point is a good way to monitor the performance of a microwave and when efficiency falls significantly take it to the service shop before something destroys itself and causes more damage.

In my limited experience the magnetron could be failing but the internals of a microwave should remain a mystery to the unqualified.
I hope this helps a little.

The unit just stopped working is there a reset?\

There is a fuse which can be located near where the cord enters the cabinet, or behind the control panel.

If you replace it, and it continues to blow, you could have an intermittent door switch, or a weak fuse holder.

If it is a door switch problem, both the bad switch and the monitor/short switch should be replaced. On inverter ovens, the power relay should be replaced.

R-820js wont heat

see this causes and fix it .God bless you
f the microwave will not work at all, make sure power is on at the outlet and test the electrical cord. Test the fuse and replace it if it is faulty. Also check the door to make sure it closes properly. Test and, if needed, replace the fan. If the oven doesn't cook or cooks only intermittently but the display is on, check the door interlock switch, the thermal cutout (see the Applaince Controls Fix-It Guide), and the fan, replacing parts that don't pass the test.
If the oven keeps blowing fuses, check for a faulty door interlock or monitor switch.

Fuse size for sharp mircowave r 520ks

The fuse will be a 20amp ceramic. The fuse should be available at hardware stores, Radio Shack.
If the fuse is blown, there is a very good chance you have another problem, possibly a bad or misaligned door switch, shorted capacitor. Replace the fuse, if it blows again you will have to figure out why. Door switches are the most common reason for the fuse to blow.

I keep blowing my 20 amp fuse, replaced mag tube and diode

Check the HV capacitor. It may be short circuited.
Also check the door switches. One of the switches (the monitor switch) is connected directly across the power and is there to blow the fuse in the event that the timing of the door switches are incorrect.
The monitor switches on Panasonic micros will also short.

Monitor fuse blows when unit is turned on. I tested the door sensing switch, secondary interlock switch and the monitor switch all tested o.k. is there something else that could blow this fuse?

You probably have a shorted High Voltage Capacitor. Be sure to short across the terminals before you put your ohm meter leads to it....... obviously, if it's shorted already.....no problem........

Monitor Switch Part Number?

They might be referring to a diode connected to the big silver capicitor and screwed to the case.
These can go short circuit causing the fuse to fail.

Location of monitor switch for Sharp R-5A54B microwave

It's usually the one in the center, as opposed to the being near the top or bottom edge of the door.

The entire service manual is available for free download on the Sears parts site (page by page) at http://www3.sears.com/ (the 3 is correct)

Just look for the switch as ref # 1-7 on this diagram:
