Put 1/3 caraffe distilled white vinegar into caraffe and 2/3 caraffe water. Pour into water reservoir. Press the self-clean button - it may take a while for this process to complete. After it is finished, the self-clean light may or may not go off (esp. if it is a DCC-1100 series). If the light does not go off, just unplug the coffeemaker from the wall outlet for an hour. The manual is available from Cuisinart's website.
