Question about Dell Optiplex GX110 (2909T) Motherboard

1 Answer

Poor VGA display , low screen resolution

I'm using an old p4 dell optiplex desktop computer. As a result of probles I had my Windows XP reinstalled. The result was that it was reinstalled but it displays only an 8bit, 1024 x 768 pixels. And that is the best that it can do.
I imagine that the problem is with the VGA driver because I had a problem with the audio too but i was able to solve it.
I also imagine that it is not an uncommon problem, and I would really be grateful for your assistance. I hope that I will simply be able to download the drivers from somewhere and install.
Thank you.

Reboot go into bios and see if it will allow you to choose the os that you have installed , if it gives you that option . or try downloading a 3d graphics display acclerrator or just a plain display acclerator from dell.com or cnet.com. you can even try go to nvida.com, nvida site has a lime green web page , thats how you will know the real site

Reinstalled Windows XP on an old computer (DELL Dimension 2400) and the monitor won't display above basic resolution. Downloaded and reinstalled the monitor driver and still no good. Opened up START

According to the Dell Support web site the Dell Dimension 2400 has a built in Intel 3D extreme graphics adapter, assuming you are using this and not a PCI graphics card.

Go to the Intel Download Centre and run their Intel Driver Update Utility which will automatically scan your system for updated drivers for any installed or integrated Intel devices.

If the Intel Utility identifies an updated driver for your graphics adapter then download and install that which should enable you to configure a higher resolution for your display.

I have a computer running windows xp. just recently it has developed a black screen just after the windows display loads. What is the problem? and how can it be repaired? thank you, Walt

Its the problem with the video card or the resolution.
Turn on the computer and start tapping F8.
That will get u in to the advanced boot options.
Try 'Enable VGA mode' or 'Enable Low resolution video'.
Then reduce the resolution.
If that doesn't help, try reinstalling the operating system.

I have a dell Optiplex gx260. I bought a nice big Acer 23"monitor 1920x1030 but the max resolution in the graphics properties is 1280x1024 so I get a stretched screen or a poor resolution

jenny_beech

The resolution 1920x1030 is not a standard resolution. Also at the time this computer came out you did not have monitors this big ether. So you most likely will not be able to get 1920x1030 on this computer. However if you install the drivers for the monitor on the computer you should atleast get the right aspect ratio so you have poor resolution. You should have a CD with the drivers on in it. The llink below will show you haw to install them maually in Windows 7 if the drivers are not in an installer. Let me know if you need the steps for Windows XP.

Cant use my rad 5 with a desktop Dell computer with Vista

Temporarily connect another monitor to your computer.

Set the screen-resolution to 800 by 600 at 60 Hertz.

Disconnect the other monitor, and connect your RAD.

It should display.

Try changing the screen-resolution to 1024 by 768, and "test" it.

Hook vga cord to hdtv and optiplex desk top get

Try a different display setting, for example, 1280 x 800 or 1024 x 768. Once you can see (computer) display, then move onto the best resolution which your display card support for your HDTV. Good luck..

(btw, if your dell has two vga sockets, get another vga cable. Then set your computer to a dual display mode, one for your computer and the other for HDTV. this way you will never lose your display.)

GX520 screen display message: cannot display this video mode

This means that the windows setting you have set can not display on your current monitor. There are two ways to fix this, one is to boot the computer in safe mode by pressing f8 after the POST screen and change the resolution and the other is to plug the computer into a different monitor to see if supports that resolution and then change the resolution in windows to a lower setting.

In case you don't know how to change the resolution in windows, follow below.

Right click on the desktop
Properties
Settings at the top
Move the slider to 1024x768
Click ok

Try rebooting. If that still doesn't work, try another resolution.

Monitor compatibility

It will be compatible with the system, just keep on thing in mind, whatever resolution you set your computer at you may have to keep the ratio aspect active so that way the screen looks properly displayed.
