Question about Canon imageRUNNER 5000 Copier
I am trying to connect a IR5000s to an imagePASS L1 and the imagepass will not recognize the copier. In the instructions I am told I need a mn-cont version of at least 50.04 and I have version 20.01. Our local service tech tried to update the version without success. I was told I needed a complete print controller upgrade to accept newer programming. Is this neccessary? What would need to be done? Thanks!!!
Hello copierhelp. I could have sworn I responded to your request before but "fixya's" records don't seem to reflect that. So here we go. Your controller should be able to have its firmware (ver 20.01 changed to 50.04) updated as opposed to replacing the controller. This does however require a tech that is recognized by Canon as being trained, certified and currently working for a certified service dealership. If that is so then the tech will have access to the unique tool required to upgrade your firmware. And the tech will have access to the web site that has the library of firmware available for your machine, which the "ServiceSupportTool" will use to complete the upgrade. Additionally, the tech will have to go into service mode on the copier and change the settings which tell the copier that it no longer in charge of its network interface and the L1 is in control. This answer may cause more questions and angst than you wanted, and I am sorry for that, but I truly hope to help you out. let me know if I was any help and if you need anything. good luck.
