Try cleaning printer head from maintance page

I had this happen to me. You probably need a new printhead if the cleaning option doesn't fix it. They are like $10 on amazon.

SOURCE: Calibration runs fine. But won't print anything else!

Here are the things you will be asked to try if you call support. They may fix the problems as well. Taking the printhead out and putting it back in is the big helper.

Remove the black and color ink cartridges.
Right above where the black ink cartridge was, in the top left hand corner of the printhead, push up towards the ceiling and you should be able to push a button that releases the printhead.
Place the printhead right back into the printer and push straight back on the back wall.
You should hear a loud snap.
Replace the ink cartridges which should snap as well.
Close the printer.
After about a minute or so the printer will ask you to do a calibration.
Insert a paper and press start.
Scan the calibration sheet.
After that, in the menu, do a printhead clean.
(If this is a 5100, do it in the home center ->? in the top right ->Maintainence ->Clean Printhead.)
Do one basic and one deep.
Print a demo sheet to see if anything has changed.
If the picture looks better, continue to do cleans.
In the event that it does not, the printhead will need to be replaced and since the printer is still under warranty, Kodak specialists will try to overnight you a printhead.
The whole process is short and free.
The number for Kodak AiO Support is 1 800 421 6699.

SOURCE: kodak easyshare 5300 printer

try try again..........

I had this problem;

Printhead replacement instructions are in the users guide.

THIS WORKED FOR ME --AND IF YOU CALL THE TECH SUPPORT # KODAK WILL SEND YOU A REPLACEMENT HEAD........
Power on printer, the printhead rides on a carriage that is connected to the ribbon cable. When the printhead is in the center position and movement is stopped REMOVE THE INK CARRIAGES. DO NOT TOUCH THE INK-PADS OR THE CONNECTION POINTS. You can just place the ink carriages on their side on a clean piece of paper.

......... To separate the printhead from the carriage press the release botton(above the bulls-eye sticker) in the top center of the printhead. You will hear a click and the top of the prinhead will pop forward about 1/4 of an inch. GENTLY lift from back (where you pressed the botton) to front and lift the printhead up and out of the printer.
---------U will see where the printhead and the carriage connect-------

It is best (very important) to not touch the shiny contact area

Now you are ready to install your new printhead.

BE CAREFUL BE GENTLE............Place the new printhead into the carriage and again at the center top back bulls-eye press back until you hear the click and the printhesd is secured in the carriage.......... replace the ink carriages.......

I would power off the printer and wait about 60 seconds then power on and run self test.

TO RUN SELF TEST

power on the printer and wait until the printhead is in the center position THEN press photo and copy buttons at the same time, you will hear the printhead carriage start to move and a test print page will print.

CHECK for print quailty; run all diag. from the help tab as needed.

REMEMBER; IF YOU THINK THE PLASTIC WILL CRACK U ARE PRESSING TOO HARD....... KEEP IT CLEAN, BE SAFE

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Printing every other line lighter

Use the Canon software to do a "nozzle check".
The print-head has multiple "jets" that spray ink onto consecutive "rows" across the width of the paper. If some of the jets are clogged, then you get the "every other line is lighter" effect, and the printout from the "nozzle check" will show a pattern of "stripes".

Printing stripes

You may have dried ink in the printhead. You can remove the printhead and try cleaning it at home in hot soapy water, rinse, then leaving it to dry thoroughly. Certainly won't leave you any worse off than you are now, and may well do the trick.

Slightly light streaks, not stripes.

On the screen you need to scroll to troubleshooting and then to eliminate light stripes, and eliminate smears. Run those a couple of times each.
Then check the maintenance kit.

Diagnosing Print-Quality Problems
The Troubleshooting Print-Quality Page provides a good overview of the most
common print quality problems. To print the Troubleshooting Print-Quality Page,
follow these steps:
1. From the Control Panel, scroll to Troubleshooting, then press OK.
2. Scroll to Print Quality Problems, then press OK.
3. Scroll to Troubleshooting Print Quality Page, then press OK.
The Troubleshooting Print Quality Page includes instructions for printing the
Eliminate Light Stripes test print. These instructions are also provided on the next
page of this manual. The Eliminate Light Stripes test print indicates individual weak
or missing jets or an obstruction in the imaging path that affects a vertical band down
the entire page. Also, you may see color variation from jet to jet on the Eliminate
Light Stripes test print. Some variation is normal, occasionally occurs, and usually
self-corrects within a few printed pages. If a print-quality problem is not resolved

Stripes on printout MD5000P

This happens alot, iteithermeans your inks running low, your inks too new, or its a low quality printer.
My suggestion would be to check your ink level, and if its fine, print out a few pages, then see if it helps.
