The fuses for microwaves are not normally placed on the control panel...they are in the back near the power cord...but the fact that it beeps 3 times means the fuse is ok...power is going in....most likely, the fault is one or more of the door interlock switches which arc every time you open and close the door and they corrode or wear down very badly sometimes even burn away so that there is no more contacts to come together....interlocks are cheap to buy and they just snap in place....access to them is easy...just remove the cover and look right behind where the door closes on the inside, you'll see a plastic bar on the door that when you close the door...it pushes on the interlock switches on the inside to activate the oven.......if the interlocks are ok...then you probably have a shorted magnetron....very common on any type of microwaves are these 2 parts...( the interlock switches and /or magnetrons.....it's not likely that your control panel is bad unless you physically see that something has burned on it.....good luck

Roper microwave /hood has stop completly working model # MHE14XMG1

The magnetron can overheat if the internal cooling fan fails, when you run it empty, when you run it a long time, or when you cook low-moisture foods like popcorn, bacon, or baked potatoes.

When the magnetron overheats past a certain point, its thermal protection device will kill power to the whole unit.

If the protection device is a thermal cutout, it will need a new thermal cutout.

If the protection device is a thermostat, it should reset after the oven cools down. If not, it will need a new thermostat.

You or someone you know can check this.

At my Web site, I have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components. I've attached a marked excerpt.

In this model, the other parts which can commonly fail and render the oven "dead" are the 20A line fuse, and one of the cavity thermostats.

You can order parts from the Pros here. Just enter your full model number to do a lookup.

Was working fine, punched in time to cook, hit start ...it ran for a second and then just went dead. No light, no display Microwave is 10 years old but never had a problem before

If the microwave control panel doesn't light up, then your fuse is blown. unplug the microwave. unscrew the vent grill, (2) screws at the top of the microwave. then you should see 1 screw holding the control panel. after removing that screw, gently push up then out. there should be a metal plate on top of the control panel. remove that plate and the fuse will be in that opening. remove the fuse and check for continuity across the fuse. Replace fuse and microwave should begin working.

Microwave will not start when time is entered and start is pushed

You got it! One of the door switches is not activating. Take a look at the door itself first. There should be two tabs that stick out. These tabs will engage in the holes near the control panel. If the door does not have a broken tab then the problem is behind the control panel on one of the switches. There are 3 switches back there.

Unplug the power cord, it is usually in the cabinet above the microwave oven. Then take the grille off the top, the screws for the grille are on the top of the unit facing down. With the grill off you will see the one screw on top of the control panel, remove that screw and lift up and out on the control panel this will give you access to view the switches and test them with an ohmmeter.

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or stuck in "night light" mode. Sometimes this will similarly affect the fan operation or inside light, too.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Emerson microwave, #MW8119SB, push start button to start cooking

Replace the fuse with a ceramic fuse from Home depot! costs less than $3 and it will fix the problem. I had all the same problems as everyone else, you name it my microwave had it! you must remember replace it with a ceramic fuse! not a glass one. I know people say its the switchboard and all that nonsence but I promise you, the fuse plays a majoe roll in the microwave not working properly. Even though it doesnt look broken, a junky fuse can cause your appliance to do very strange things. I replaced mine 6 months ago and it works like its fresh out of the box.
