For central air its always the model and serial number of the unit for anything or you may get a capacitor with a higher voltage rating but the microfarad has to be the same you may find this info on the capacitor its self go to a any appliance store with capacitor or info.

I was unable to find that information but just to let you know you can always go to a store like Grainger's and find a start/run capacitor with the same specifications as the one you are replacing, and it will work just fine.

Trying to determine what size capacitor my unit C1048BBD1VF uses for my AC unit. Is it larger then a 45 amp? Replace it with a 45 and you can hear it try to turn on but it won't.

capacitors are rated in microfarads or picofarads and not amps
capacitors are used to provide a boost voltage to start motors and then to keep them running
Amps is current flow so what ever you replaced was the wrong unit.
on the side of a capacitor will be voltage rating (110-115-220-240 etc and a number 45 -55 60 uf etc
it will have either 2 terminals or 4 terminals connected as pairs
from what you describe it is a capacitor problem

Clothes dryer does not work when power turned on at wall. Sounder goes continuously, no lights on panel and panel buttons do nothing

If it didn't do that before removing the capacitor & wires then I would assume it is something you have done wrong. Maybe put a wire back in wrong place. There is a wiring diagram on back of dryer. Motor not starting could be the capacitor, you really need to test it with a capacitor tester. It may also be the motor bearings seizing up. If motor is tight to turn when belt is off then it will be time for a new dryer. Too expensive to replace the motor on such an old dryer.

Can i test run the fan motor by bypassing the capacitor

Maybe: If you can manually rotate the motor to get it started.
The capacitor is on start winding, and causes sudden release of amps that starts the motor.
There are two (or four) windings in each single phase motor.
Both receive power at same time.
One winding is the start winding, which can be considered 'low gear' on a transmission. The capacitor is on this winding and gives burst of enough power to begin rotation.
So when a motor just hums, and doesn't rotate, then the start winding and/or capacitor are suspect. Dry or worn bearings are suspect too.
The other winding is the run winding that brings motor to up to speed.
On fan motor, the run winding can have multiple connection points for selecting different speeds.

Is there a separate start and run capacitor on be flo-master xp2?

Hi,
Depending on which motor is on your XP2, the bigger capacitor on the side is the run capacitor not the start capacitor.
Typically there is a plastic shroud on the rear of the motor, inside you should find the start capacitor. It is smaller that you might expect usually around - 7/16" x 2-3/4"
Note the part number and the MFD range rating.

I have a trane XR12 Heat Pump. The cooling fan on the outdoor unit does not run nor does the compressor. The fan motor heats up and hums. I am guessing that the problem is the start capacitor on the fan...

Hello Rich,NO you have a dual capasitor that runs both fan & compressor motors.Shut it down and let it cool off.You need the uf rate numbers & the volt rating of the existing cap (printed on the side)to get EXACT replacement. The wires plug in to the top termanls C, HERM &FAN.Worth fixing good luck.

What capacitor should be on a table saw motor

The part number you reference is a start capacitor. (details can be seen here: http://www.superioressex.com/uploadedFiles/Distribution/North_America/Essex_Brownell/Downloads/Linecards_and_Catalogs/capacitors_w.pdf )

It appears that the component capacitors (there are 2) are not available as separate parts from Delta. They only reference the motor itself (part 220 in the diagrams listed below.)

http://www.ereplacementparts.com/delta-36650-type-table-saw-parts-c-3275_3334_13634.html

At this point, I would try to locate another saw of the same model and read any numbers that may appear on the original capacitors on the motor. Please note the location and connections of each. There should be a run cap and a start cap on the motor.

The differences between a 47uFD and 20uFD caps are not an issue in this application.

Have craftsman 1hp motor with two capacitors,

you posted this under dryer problems , but i give it a shot. Maby your compressor is out of oil or rings worn out and its to tight to turn under pressure. Or your not getting the voltage or amps you need. You cant run on a extension cord or at least a cheep cord. Your plug is or outlet is burnt not tranphering volts and amps.

Ruud heat pump capacitor size

A hard start or turbo 2000 will not work if the run capacitor is bad. You will need to contact a ruud supply house or dealer with model and serial to find out the exact match. I have checked my sources and came up empty handed. You could try getting a 35/5 MFD at 440V or a 45/5 MFD at 440V as these are the most common capacitors used in Rheem and Ruud equipment. The key is that you will need to check your amp draws on both motors against the nameplate rating to make sure that you are not over-amping the motor. Also check the nameplates on both of the motors. Most condenser fan motors and some compressors list the capacitor size they require in a somewhat less than conspicious location on the label.
