Yes that is how that style washer works since its very possible if opening the door when water is in the tub that it would spill out when opening the door when water in the tub..all front loaders work ina similar manner where when water is in the tub the door wont unlock
Those locks are on a timer that until the wash is complete it does not unlock the unit.
Unlike a normal washer where you can open it at any time and throw in some cloths you may have forgot, this one seems to take up to to minutes after you stop the unit mid wash.
If it is taking more then the 2 minutes then the door lock may be faulty, try unplugging the unit then plugging back in, do not force the door open as this will result in a broken switch.
You shouldnt be able to open the door when the washer has started and for a few minutes after it gets finished. Id=f you can then you have a faulty safety switch. The only way to open it when its started is to turn the dial to stop, and wait a few minutes until the lock turns off ( you will hear a click) then you can open the door, if its filled with water, then you shouldnt open it unless you want a puddle, you can put in on spin and get the water out before opening the door
It is best to finalise what clothes you want to wash, regarding front loaders. Or if you stop the machine, you have to wait for a couple of minutes for the door mechanism to release the lock, before u try the door. At times the door won't open for there is water in there; & if you force the door you'll damage the door assembly. So a lot of caution here!
sometimes you just have to force the door but first try hitting the machine near the door lock sometimes this helps the door interlock may be stuck in the closed position
these machines are mean on water and you can open the door after wash starts
use good quality soap powder that suits front loaders and always wash at 40 deg or above
the black stuff is body fat that is still in machine called scud to me
also if you use conditioner in rinse cycle stop using that
it can cause same problem
